but they basically begged him to do it. Sure enjoyable to watch them twist and twist and twist.

Seems one of the creeds of the repugs is never, never admit a mistake. Instead cover up or mislead.
So expect some pretty wild maneuvering by congress critters trying to pretend Trump doesn't exist while not pissing off Trump's base.

I don't know if I am right, but the way I see it the repugs are made up of 3 factions:

1) the crazy right wing - includes the newly named alt-right (KKK, stormfront et alia), the tea baggers and the Reagan idolizers. These used to be the Goldwater wing but crazier
2) The old Rockefeller Repubs. They don't care about social issues. They have money and want to keep it. They continue to pony up big bucks to buy politicians to keep their privileges and tax advantages.
3) the religious crazies. They vote big time. But so far they have gotten little in return. What little they have gotten - abortion trap laws and religious "liberty" laws are being dismantled by courts.

Having a clown like Trump who is twice divorced and a playboy whose love of money trumps everything is a real kick in the ass to the evangelicals. It is like telling them that they don't count at all. They just want those votes. Makes one wonder how much longer they will stick around and where they will go. They may actually start some kind of christian party.

The old rocky repugs foot the bill for most of this crap and I think many may be casting an eye at the libertarians who love money like they do. If Libertarians show real signs of life there may be some big defections.

Which will leave the repug party to the alt-right and racists. This is what that guy on David Duke's show stated the other day. "We have taken over the Republican Party." They will continue to move further and further right.

At least this is what my little brain noodled out today. they are afraid to leave, but outside of the crazies have little reason to stay.

I tink there is one thing that keeps them together - fear and hate of Democrats fueled by crazy online rumors and stories.
