My own Gene Wilder story. Sort of.

Freshman year in the dorm, the person with whom I shared the phone that toggled between rooms introduced herself.

"I'm Ludina Delbrück," she said.

"Any relation to the brain in Young Frankenstein?" I quipped.

"Actually yes, that was my grandfather," she replied.

"Wow. Do you have any idea why they chose him?"

"We wrote to Gene Wilder and asked him. He told us it was because Delbrück rhymes with Mel Brooks."

He saw I recognized him and his expression was, yeah, I'm that guy, so what, just keep peeing.

He was cool.
