It's a tragedy when it happens to me.

It's an abstraction if it happens to someone else.

Poland has historically been clannish and unfriendly to outsiders. A few dozen invasions and counter invasions from the east and west over the last 1000 years or so pretty much guaranteed that... But yeah, the ambassador is a member of the right wing racist government currently in power and someone should have asked about the double standard
