What people don't like is black people protesting against racism

At some point people should be honest and admit what they don't like is black people protesting against oppression and racism, and quit pretending that what they are sincerely against are the tactics used. Kaepernick used the quietest protest ever and people are flipping out, and BLM uses loud protests and people flip out. It's not the tactics that people are against, it's the goddamn message.

People should quit lying to themselves and to others.

People should also quit believing that the rest of us are so dumb that we can't see through this lie.

And a few "elite" blacks. I'm a little confused. Exactly what "people" are being complained about here? This is hardly the first time this kind of accusation against "people" has been posted for all of us. If you meant to offend everyone but non-elite blacks, you can leave it as is. My own usual tactic is to speak of "some people," but in those cases I really am, of course, speaking only of some people.

I'm not the first to note it, but it's no less true to observe that the very people who feign outrage over Colin Kaepernick are the people who fly treasonous flags, who have questioned this President's nationality, and who claimed that he is a secret "Muslin."

Their opinions automatically point in the opposite direction from patriotism and morality. They would burn in their own Hell for it, if God were a mindless caucasian English-mumbling redneck.

white people don't like black people talking about racism? People is all inclusive and I don't imagine brown people mind black people talking about these issues.

And I hear what you are saying. It is so uncomfortable to be confronted on faults, most people do what ever they can to not hear.

The methods and tactics are irrelevant. It's the message that makes people uncomfortable. Which comes full circle and demonstrates the need for protest in the first place.

If protesters start destroying property and attacking people, they're going to get arrested like anyone else committing those crimes. That's not racism. It's exactly what you'd expect. It is, in fact, exactly why we have police in the first place. Those behaviors are not acceptable. They don't suddenly become acceptable just because the people doing them claim to be protesters.

Kaepernick was not a protestor. He's a hypocritical, attention-seeking whiner. Criticizing him for that is not "flipping out" and it's certainly not racism.

Standing up for what you believe (or in this case, sitting down) is protest. Period.

To call someone a whiner when he is simply objecting to black people being shot is ... an interesting strategy.

He has also gotten a lot of praise from some wonderful people. Including people who didn't agree with him. The overall flack is a clear sign to people like us as to how far we really have to go and the fact it is a tit for tat game to some.

Extremely passive yet recognized by all. To me that is a brilliant protest. I say that as someone who has supported far less than passive protests recently. And people are talking about the real point. Not enough people but many are.

Empty criticism of socially relevant, non-violent protests illustrates to me who the idiots are. "He didn't show his patriotism!" "the marchers *could have* made someone late for work!" "boycotts never work!"

Yup! However, I'm beginning to think they're actually the ones so dull they themselves can't see through the dogma-covered lenses they wear.

I dislike Kaepernick as a player because of his playing style of dropping back in the pocket, then taking off in a scramble. It worked in early years because he is big and fast and defenses hadn't adjusted. Now, not so much. Now he has to do a durn fool respectable thing that I have to admire. Perhaps for some it's not so much the message but the messenger.
