The Maine Governor recently referred to black people and other POC as the enemy

and while his VM caused some brouhaha in ME, it literally was not half the brouhaha the Kaepernick caused while protesting racism.

Look, a bad guy is a bad guy, I don’t care what color it is. When you go to war, if you know the enemy, the enemy dresses in red and you dress in blue, you shoot at red, don’t you? … You shoot at the enemy. You try to identify the enemy. And the enemy right now, the overwhelming majority of people coming in, are people of color or people of Hispanic origin. I can’t help that. I just can’t help it. Those are the facts.

and even his own party is beginning to realize he needs to resign for the good of the state. Something has him disinhibited and decompensating and that usually means a substance abuse problem or less often, a stroke.

He's always been a bigoted asshole but he kept more of a lid on it during his first term. He's become a daily embarrassment to the state and interventions from his own party are not working.
