Ky. governor rips Kim Davis lawsuit as 'forlorn'

Source: USA Today

"Absurd." "Forlorn." "Obtuse."

Those are some of the words lawyers for Kentucky's Gov. Steve Beshear used to describe a lawsuit that county clerk Kim Davis brought against the governor as she fights to avoid issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Davis, who spent five days in jail for defying a series of federal court orders – and met with Pope Francis when he visited the U.S. last week – alleges that Beshear, a Democrat, "usurped control of Kentucky marriage law" and violated her religious freedom by asking clerks to comply with a U.S. Supreme Court decision that legalized gay marriage nationwide.

Inequality and climate change, but he's still basically the same old same old. I was never much of a fan anyway. Indians like me have a problem with the Catholic church anyway, so I was disgusted but not surprised.

He met with her?

I was all for the "cool" Pope but if he met with her then we are done. Seriously did he actually meet with her of all 300 million Americans?

he 'did not deny that a meeting took place', but that he would have no additional comment.

I think her story of her hugging the pope, and his hugging her back, is wildly exaggerated. Her lawyer said, as if in proof, that he was waiting for the Vatican to send him pictures that were taken. Somehow I doubt we'll ever see any such thing.

Every other appearance he made, including the one with victims of sexual abuse, was well documented. I'll believe it when I see it. He must not know about her 3 divorces.

I usually read all the crappy websites like DailyMail. Ihave been busy this last day and have seen nothing of this gossip.

I really hope the Pope didn't choose her to hug. There are a lot of other people that deserve a hug from him more. I'm not really religious but I think I like Francis. He seems kind.

I thought that there wasn't any evidence that she had. Her lawyer lies so much it's ridiculous.

Perhaps the Pope saw her as a troubled soul? He visited prison in Pennsylvania and blessed lunch for the homeless.

Isn't he the head of the state? I would think his authority supersedes that of some career nepotistic county clerk.
