Donald Trump on shooting: 'Horrible' but these things happen
Source: CNN
Washington (CNN)Donald Trump says even if he becomes president, he doesn't expect to halt all mass shootings like the massacre at an Oregon community college Thursday because there will always be people that society can't stop.
Trump on Friday was asked what he would do as president to try to prevent attacks like the shooting at Umpqua Community College, but he said there are "millions and millions of sick people all over the world" that make it difficult, no matter how strong the laws are.
"You're going to have these things happen and it's a horrible thing to behold, horrible," Trump said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
"It's not politically correct to say that, but you're going to have difficulty and that will be for the next million years, there's going to be difficulty and people are going to slip through the cracks," Trump added. "What are you going to do, institutionalize everybody?"

(675 posts)The gunman was an admitted 'conservative republican' meaning he listens to Limbaugh, supports fascists like Trump, was groomed and inspired by tea party hate speech and armed by the NRA.
The root of the problem is two-fold, right wing hate from the likes of Palin, Trump, Limpballs etc
and readily available guns and ammo thanks to the gun humping NRA.
Any solution to the problem runs right through the 2.
I stand with our President, I pray he can come up with something to end this madness.

(53,235 posts)In 2014, Muslim terrorists killed 2 Canadians
In 2014, American gun owners killed 48 Canadians.
This proves that American gun owners are 24 times more dangerous than Muslim terrorists.
The way to eliminate the monthly mass shootings in the US is to repeal the Second Amendment an to declare the NRA the terrorist organization it is.
Here in Canada, as in all other western nations that lead the US every way that counts, owning a gun is an easily revokable privilege and not any kind of so called "right" at all.
In 3 major rulings, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that owning a gun is neither a specified nor an implied right, but that owning a gun is an easily revokable privilege, as owning a gun should be in the US.

(15,139 posts)line of fire, he'd change his tune. Countries with strict gun laws aren't the free for all shooting galleries we've become. The well regulated militia is a concept whose time is long past, and the founding fathers would no doubt be appalled by how their words have been twisted to justify mass carnage in the 21st century. Sadly, if Newtown wasn't enough to budge the gun nuts and the legislators owned by the NRA, nothing can.

(37,293 posts)It's a challenge. On many levels.
The first challenge is to get weapons and ammunition into the hands of mentally ill people. My friend's Lady Wife who is a Psychiatrist says that about 3% of the population is more or less mentally ill. Of course, most of these people are harmless, just sick and trying to get through the day as best they can.
The second challenge is to make sure the ones that are dangerous shoot the right people. You know, small children, but the kind who go to public schools. Also older students who are ordinary people just trying to better their lives. And of course Jews, Muslims, Sikhs and those of other faiths and let's not forget: People of Color.
The important thing is that the wrong people don't get shot. Those would be republican politicians, right-wing-hate-radio talkshow hosts, shyster evangelical pastors, hedge fund managers. And of course Wayne Lapierre himself!
I'm thinking Wayne must get nice letters and perhaps even awards from people in Al Qeada and IS, who, although they prefer to do the work themselves, are never the less thankful for help.
Yes, Trump can rest assured he won't get his hair mussed.

Still, we could do a lot worse than Trump on the GOP side. He actually looks sane and stable compared to the rest of them.

(17,301 posts)But you don't see the rich suffering too much from these things. Yeah, once in a great while a rich person or their child will get in the line of fire. Once in a great while the rich will be conned and their money stolen. But mostly they avoid the crazies they create with their hate media and gun fetishism, just like they avoid the economic crashes they create with capitalism.
We have to have these regular shootings because some rich person is making huge profits off of it. Just like we have to have these regular economic crashes with capitalism because some already rich person is making himself more riches. These things just happen by ...magic? chance?
