Transit union rejects company contract offer

Source: Journal Sentinel

By Don Behm and Jesse Garza

Milwaukee County bus drivers and mechanics on Monday rejected the latest contract offer from the Milwaukee County Transit Service, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 998 officials said.

According to a news release from union spokeswoman Melissa Zombor, 92% of members who voted Monday voted to reject the offer, while at the same time authorizing the union's executive board to call a strike if necessary.

The actual number of union members who cast ballots was not available, Zombor said.

The union has sent a letter to MCTS officials requesting they come back to the bargaining table to resume negotiations.
