'Don't make it worse for yourselves': Helicopters drop leaflets on ISIS and rebel fighters warning t

Source: Daily Mail UK

army helicopters have dropped tens of thousands of leaflets on ISIS and rebel fighters, warning them to get out now and 'don't make it even worse for yourselves'.

The flyers were let go over the embattled cities of Rastan and Talbiseh, which have been pounded by Moscow's warplanes this week and where Russia claims 5,000 ISIS and al-Nusra Front terrorists are stationed.

It came as Russian media said there would soon be a large ground operation in the area driven by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's troops - with Russia's military backing from the air and possibly on the ground, involving Spetsnatz special forces.

Iranian troops are said to have crossed the border from Iraq last week to help prop up Assad's ailing regime.

The rumor mill in the Arab world is a strong weapon. They will believe pretty much anything they're told; especially if it backs up what they WANT to believe.

Remember what they called WW2 at first...the "phony war". By spring 1940, there was nothing phony about it.

Rumor has it that the Iranians are planning a full out invasion across Iraq and into Syria. The Israelis have publically stated that they absolutely will not allow the Iranians anywhere near the Golan Heights.

Meanwhile, you have Riyadh trying to figure out how to counteract the Russians and Iranians.

The shitpot is about ready to blow.

being routed from Syria and Assad being firmly back in controll.

The important questions will be...

1. Do we defend the Kurds once Assad goes after them?

2. Do the Iranians and Russians chase ISIS into Iraq and fight them there too.

What an incredible turn of events for Assad. He seemed a walking dead man a few weeks ago. Now he may be part of a strong alliance of Russia, Iran, Iraq and Syria.

Well the USA couldn't do much but the Iranians and Russians will kick Isis ass and there will be a settlement. Iraq may or may not exist ultimatley. I don't think Obama is entirely against this happening, what choice do we have?

Putin and Assad want them to have their own territory.

Otherwise, they will chase any armed Kurds out of Syria if they want to.

What we want doesn't have much to do with it. It will be up to Putin and Assad. and I don't see any reason why they'd want the Kurds to be semi-independent.

What choice do we have?

Not much. Each country in the area needs to make the best deal that they can.
