BEIJING (AP) State media say an explosion at a chemical factory in eastern China has injured two people and left nine others missing.
The Xinhua News Agency said the cause of the explosion Wednesday at a workshop owned by Tianbao Chemical Industry Co. in Shandong province is still unknown. The company manufactures explosives for mining and other commercial uses.
Xinhua said one of the injured is in critical condition.
The explosion is the latest in a string of serious accidents involving deadly chemicals in China. In August, 173 people, many of them firefighters, were killed in a chemical explosion in the port of Tianjin involving 700 tons of highly toxic sodium cyanide.

I wouldn't be the least surprised if that was the case.

(182,776 posts)We know about the netting for "jumpers" at some of the factories but something else is happening. Their workers are actually demanding raises. China is having to outsource a lot to avoid turmoil.
As you say, out in the country (where most of these accidents are occurring) there are reports of some upheaval. Probably more than the little we are hearing.

Dangerously reactive chemicals stored in nearby containers.
My brother went to their space center and walked out of a building and refused to re-enter due to how things were stored there.
