4. Not Victim Blaming

Shooting over a car thing, is inexusable, so let me clearly say the blame lies on the guy with the gun.

The thing i found equally distressing is that the witnesses say the truck in which the little girl was riding was weaving and cutting off the other vehicle driven by the shooter.

So, while the dad is justifiably grieving, maybe he shouldn't have engaged in reckless driving while a 4 year old was in the back. She didn't deserve either sort of negligence.

Witnesses also said the shooter was driving a red sedan!

"'He was found in a green and blue vehicle, not the vehicle believed to have been involved in the road rage incident."

Which means that witnesses could have seen the results of an earlier altercation, and the dad was trying to get away from the shooter, in order to protect his kids!

And the shooter just wouldn't let it go...

We'll just have to wait until the investigation has been completed.

I hate guns
Is that good enough? The shooter is at fault. Driving recklessly with a little girl in the car is still inherently wrong.
But, you go ahead and defend that behavior.
Good for you.

The account I read had a red sedan, a truck and this guy driving a green sedan.

But, that's typical of eyewitness statements.

15. I simply do not understand the lack of self-discipline

I simply do not understand the lack of self-discipline and the emotion-laden desires that compel someone to engage in acts of violence of any sort. At worst (at worst), I get frustrated with other drivers every now and then, but my reactions have never involved more that rolling my eyes momentarily, and then... well, simply getting on with life again.

Anger, I understand. Happens to me all too frequently. Acting on that anger however, is simply child-like and something I'd honestly expect everyone to grow out of. I'll simply never understand rage, or intense anger, or fury...

Rather than the excuse "he made me angry", it's wise to realize that we often choose where we are on the emotional spectrum. Two like things can happen to a person (e.g., bumped into while standing in line), but more often than not, two wholly different emotional responses will be made (bumped into by someone we find attractive vs. bumped into by a demographic we dislike). A lack of self-discipline. Stunted growth.

Maybe it's better I'll never understand the desire to "get back" at someone.

guns create the opportunity for tragedy

gun give you the chance to escalate your rage
instead of pounding your steering wheel and swearing you can point a gun and maybe kill someone.

less self discipline is needed if you do not have the means to act.
