Chafee to address future of campaign on Friday

Source: AP

By KEN THOMAS

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Lincoln Chafee said Thursday that he will address the future of his campaign Friday following a sluggish debate performance and difficulties gaining traction against Hillary Rodham Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

The former Rhode Island governor and U.S. senator wrote on Twitter Thursday evening that he was looking forward to speaking at a Democratic National Committee women's forum Friday morning. "I'll address my future in the campaign there," he said.

A Chafee spokeswoman did not respond to messages.

During the first presidential debate, Chafee referred to himself as a "block of granite" when it came to issues and said he was most proud of his judgment, particularly his vote against the Iraq war. But his performance was widely panned, prompting questions about whether he will continue his campaign.

Hopefully, he will just wise up and realize he would be much more effective for the country if he picks a topic (ie. campaign finance, marijuana legalization) and runs with it as fast and hard as he can.

or anything. It just seems like you're not clear on why it is used.

N/T means "no text." In other words, there is no message in the body of the post and you can read everything the poster has to say by just reading the subject line.

I personally prefer to write "eom," which means "end of message."

If there is something I failed to understand here then I am sorry. I just wanted to give you a heads up in case you were confused as to how that phrase is normally used here at DU.

I was on board with that. Reagan ended that project, still irks me. However, I'm not a single issue voter.

With only 3 candidates (as opposed to the Republicans' 15), I think six debates are not just enough ... they might be too many.

I'm sure some people here will make fun of him for his low polling but at least he was one of the few people actually willing to challenge Queen Hillary in the primary, unlike dozens of asshat politicians in the Democratic party who seem to think she's fucking entitled to the nomination and are perfectly willing to let her just waltz into it with no opposition. This is the biggest joke of a primary I've ever seen and it makes me sick.

i wondered if he had any teeth. When I did see them, it appeared to me that his teeth are too small for his mouth. (?) Other than that superficial impression, I gave him points for cheerfully soldiering on in Mission Impossible.

What (if anything) is going on with Lessig-- the HLS Prof who wants to run on getting money out of politics? Did not get into the debate -- but it seems the issue (a good one ) hasn't been picked up by anyone else still running -- though it's pretty clearly on Sanders' radar.

Too pie-in-the-sky for prime time politicking?
