Grayson mum on meeting with ethics investigator

Source: Politico Florida

Known for his outspoken style, U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson was mum Thursday when POLITICO asked about an hours-long meeting he and his attorney had with a congressional ethics investigator examining the way the Democrat handled a network of hedge funds.

Grayson, a U.S. Senate candidate, didn’t deny the meeting with the Office of Congressional Ethics investigator the day before but instead argued about whether he could talk about it.

“As I understand the rules, we're not allowed to discuss anything to do with the OCE at all,” Grayson told POLITICO when repeatedly pressed on the issue.

Contrary to Grayson’s claims, there does not appear to be any prohibition against him discussing his case, ethics lawyers said.

1. Hmmm, he doesn't want to talk about it?

Did it go that badly for him?
Usually Congressman Grayson will talk about anything, so this doesn't bode well, IMO.

2. I'm going to contribute to Patrick Murphy at some point

I got an email from Grayson which started with him talking about his five kids and what you mustn't do to be a good parent. I actually responded to the email asking him if a good parent shortchanges his kids on child support just to get back at their mother? Regardless of the legality of the marriage you don't punish the kids. I also asked about his off shore holdings. I got a robo email saying they may respond in the future. I doubt it. Murphy is conservative for a Dem but as far as I know he's honorable.

3. Murphy was one of the three Democrats to vote yes, with the GOP, to create the Benghazi

committee. He was a Republican until 2012, and only switched in order to run against another Republican. A true DINO.
I will not be voting for him, even if I have to write in Grayson's name.

5. That may be, but I do not have to live with him, I DO have to live with what he does in Congress.

I don't know the whole story about child support, I don't know if he cheated on his wife. Even if he did, that seems okay for some politicians. Just sayin'.

6. It's his financial holdings too

He's a hedge fund manager with offshore accounts. I believe trouble with them is what the investigation is into. Unless there's something ELSE that I'm not aware of.

7. I am aware of that. But, again, I will vote for a liberal to go to Congress, not for a DINO who

votes with the GOP. Voting for DINOs just slides the party further to the right, and I will not be enabling that.

9. Well I'm not a Floridian so I don't get a vote

But for years I've heard Grayson bash the rich, powerful and corrupt. He can be the first two, fine, but if he's the third too he should face charges like he's advocated for others.

10. That was a prudent vote.

Here is his rating from Politifact - yes, not as bad as some paint him, but bad enough. And Grayson, IMO, is hundreds of miles better on voting.

Murphy has lived up to his moderate campaigns. He voted for a measure that would have made the president balance the budget by 2023 and backed a farm bill Democrats balked at because of work requirements for food stamp recipients. He also was one of only 19 Democrats to vote in favor of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline project.

As far as I am concerned, and this will absolutely guide my vote, Murphy is a very clever DINO. In a time when Elizabeth Warren has been sneered at for being a republican until the mid-nineties, to be asked to support someone who was GOP only a few years ago, and only changed to run for a seat, is really bizarre.
