Police respond to reports of gunman in Davenport, Bettendorf

UPDATE: 5:56 p.m. Davenport Police say the Marine recruiting office was not a target. They say several shots were fired inside the law firm located at 710 E. Kimberly road in a building shared by a military recruiter. No one was shot during the incident, but two people did receive superficial injuries in the incident. The suspected gunman wasnt at the scene when officers arrived. Bettendorf Police received a call of shots fired at approximately 2:05 p.m. for a shots fired at a business in the 4500 block of Utica ridge Road. When officers arrived to the scene, they saw a suspect matching the description of the shooter in Davenport. The suspect was standing in the parking lot of the business with a gun in his hand. When the suspect saw the officers, he pointed the gun at himself.
UPDATE: 4:57 p.m. A spokeswoman for the City of Bettendorf released the following information about a shooting that began in Davenport and ended with the gunman taking his life in Bettendorf.
In a news release, Public Information Officer Lauran Halderman said Davenport police responded to a shots fired call at 1:56 p.m. Monday at a law firm located at 710 E. Kimberly Road in a building shared by a military recruiter. The recruiting office and its employees were not the target of the incident.
Several shots were fired inside the building. No one was shot during the incident in Davenport. Two people did receive superficial injuries in the incident. Police arrived on the scene within three minutes of the report. She went on to say the suspected gunman wasnt at the scene when officers arrived.

(20,629 posts)although reading accounts through Facebook, it was hinted that this was some kind of divorce situation that went bad. Kind of freaked out, as the location where the suicide took place is a block away from the place I lived in for several years - a very nice residential area.
