March 9, 12:45pm ET

PALATKA, Fla. (AP) — A north Florida woman told deputies her 4-year-old son shot her in the back while he was sitting in the back seat of her pickup truck.

A Putnam County Sheriff's Office news release says a deputy saw 31-year-old Jamie Gilt of Jacksonville behaving frantically inside the truck Tuesday afternoon and quickly realized she'd been shot.

The release says the woman told deputies her son accidentally shot her. He wasn't harmed and was reunited with family members. The Department of Children and Families will investigate.

Deputies say a .45-caliber handgun was on the truck's floor.

Here it is from the NY Post:
Totally different view of same story...

Title.."Gun Rights Advocate Shot in the Back By Her 4 Year Old Son

first two paragraphs of the NY Post story:

"A pro-gun activist in Florida who boasted online about her 4-year-old son’s shooting prowess was accidentally shot by the tot, police said."
The child fired the .45-caliber pistol through the back of 31-year-old Jamie Gilt’s seat as they were traveling in Putnam County on Tuesday, officials said.

See for yourself....

The gun didn't get loaded by accident, it didn't get left out unsecured by accident, and the kid didn't get put where he could access it by accident. This was gross negligence and child endangerment, and the mother should be criminally charged. Not holding my breath, though. Gun-worship will prevent it.

She has a loaded gun on the back seat with her 4-year-old son and the safety catch isn’t on? If this gun even has a safety catch.

I feel not one iota of sympathy for her. The kid could just as easily have shot himself.

Mother of the Year. She says she owns guns to "protect her children," but who will protect her children from her?

What am I saying? Who the fuck needs a gun license in Ammosexual America? You need car license, though, because cars kill more people. Oh, wait. They don't. Fuckin' guns kill more people than cars. Fuckin' babies with guns shoot their stupid goddam parents, too.

This is the feel good story of the day.

Or the most depressing story of the day, once you realize that these MORONS are everywhere, and she will probably blame Obama for getting herself shot.

So he jacked himself up in his little booster seat and grabbed the 45 for a little target practice.

Where was the good toddler with a gun?

But then NRA-funded pop culture reminds us that guns are cool, guns are OK, gun types should be willing to take a flesh wound here and there...
