Looks like it fell out of the sky. On the first view I thought it was already on fire, but it's actually the landing lights. It'll be interesting to see what the boxes tell us.

According to the last METAR, the wind was almost aligned with the runway and they would have been in visual conditions for pretty much the entire approach. It's possible the conditions may have deteriorated at the time of the approach, but there isn't much to indicate that was the case.

It's curious as to why he decided to go around the 2nd time. The weather reports were favorable for a normal approach. Go arounds are serious business and are where lots of flight crews lose it, even though they should be routine. It's notable that the crew was discussing go around procedures with the tower, so they seemed to be prepared for that possibility.

They spent 2 hours circling the airport, seems like the Russian air traffic control should send to another airport much earlier.
