EXCLUSIVE: Bentley had illicit affair with staffer in Governor’s office, audio recordings reveal
Source: Yellowhammer News
MONTGOMERY, Ala. Audio recordings reveal that Alabama Governor Robert Bentley carried on an illicit affair with a staffer that included sexual encounters inside the Governors Capitol office.
Yellowhammer was given exclusive access to the content of audio recordings captured by Dianne Bentley, Governor Bentleys ex-wife, during which Governor Bentley makes sexual advances on and recalls sexual encounters with Rebekah Mason, his former communications director who has since become his most senior external advisor. Mrs. Masons husband, Jon, also serves in the Bentley administration as Director of Serve Alabama, the Governors Office of Faith-Based and Volunteer Service.
One of the recordings was captured while Governor and Mrs. Bentley were visiting their beach house.
Mrs. Bentley, who had suspected the affair, went for a walk on the beach, but left her cell phone behind recording the audio of what took place in her absence.

Alabama gov admits making inappropriate remarks to staffer
By KIM CHANDLER
Associated Press
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley admitted Wednesday he made inappropriate remarks to a top female staffer two years ago, but he denied accusations that he had a physical affair.
Bentley said during a news conference that he apologized to his family and to the family of the female staff member for the remarks he called "a mistake."
. . .
The governor's press conference came in response to allegations made by the state's former law enforcement director, Spencer Collier, who was fired a day earlier.
Collier said that he heard a tape recording in 2014 that in which Bentley made sexual comments to a staffer. He also said he believed the governor had an inappropriate relationship with the staffer.
