Poll: Clinton would crush Trump in general election
Source: The Hill
Hillary Clinton would crush Donald Trump in a hypothetical general election match-up, a new national survey found.
According to a Bloomberg Politics poll released Wednesday, Clinton leads Trump 54 percent to 36 percent in a contest between the two front-runners.
Also troubling for Trump, only 29 percent of likely general election voters nationally have a favorable view of him, compared to 68 percent who view him negatively.
Trumps favorability rating is at an all-time low in the survey, while his negative rating has gone up 13 points since November and hit a new high.

(13,029 posts)trying to project the general election before the primaries are even done? They are fucking meaningless, no matter what candidates you're talking about.
Come back when we're down to two.

(13,297 posts)It shows Clinton ahead of Trump by 6 pct points and Bernie ahead of Trump by 14 pct points
It shows Clinton ahead of Cruz by 3 pct points and Bernie ahead of Cruz by 11 pct points
It also showed Kasich leading Clinton by 8 pct points whereas Bernie and he were a point apart
And that is with all the name recognition in the world for Clinton, so Bernie has a huge chance to grow open his lead once people know him vs. the existing saturation point with Clinton being a widely known entity

(13,297 posts)the poll just came out so likely folks are just starting to look into it -- the 'word association' part does not appear to have been done on other candidates - would have liked to have seen that, but they did say:
"Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton may have the overall leads among primary voters, but there is not a lot of love in the room as a big percentage of Americans say of the front-runners they could take 'em or leave 'em."
"Though short on delegates and short on time, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Gov. John Kasich can hang their hats on the fact that if folks went to the polls today, they'd fare better than the other candidates."

(5,082 posts)Both candidates would beat Trump according to polls. Bernie has a better chance according to ALL polls. So why would you want to settle unless you actually support Clintons policies more. I saw you were a major defender of NSA a couple years ago. That's fine. You have your issues. We have ours. I'm tired of the police state, mass incarceration, the drug war using almost all anti-terrorism resources, wars abroad that have ruined the lives of 400,000 US teenagers with permanent head injuries, 6000 US soldiers dead, hundreds of thousands of middle eastern homicides, income inequality and two separate Americas here at home. Hillary supported all of these things...and grinned the whole way. The people I know can't take it anymore and won't regardless of who wins the elections.

Fox News Poll: Cruz gains on Trump in GOP race, Clinton up by double digits
Published March 23, 2016
The Republican field has narrowed and so has the race for the partys nomination: front-runner Donald Trump and Ted Cruz are within the margin of error in a new Fox News national poll on the 2016 election.
Trump remains in the top spot with 41 percent support among GOP primary voters, while Cruz has 38 percent. John Kasich gets 17 percent.
............................
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton receives 55 percent support for the nomination among Democratic primary voters, while Bernie Sanders gets 42 percent. Thats a change from last month when Sanders held a three-point edge nationally after his dominant New Hampshire primary win..............

(1,727 posts)party. Even after he became the front runner, all of the political experts were claiming that his ceiling of support was 30% of the party and that he'd get crushed as soon as more people dropped out. How did all of that conventional wisdom work out?
Trump has more populist positions than Clinton on several issues (irrespective of their lack of substance or whether he actually believes them).
Not saying that's going to fool any progressives, but a lot of independent voters are fickle, ignorant and easily swayed.

Too many people on this site make the mistake of thinking of DUers as the norm for political interest and awareness. Not even close. An awful lot of voters barely give a shit, but their votes count the same.

(10,857 posts)And on election day, mark my words, we'll all be crapping our pants. Remember that YOU decide who wins, by checking your voting status early and often and by finding a way to get that vote in no matter how they try to steal it from you.
Polls are just another tool that The Man uses to keep you at home.
