Bill Clinton says he will leave Clinton Foundation if Hillary is elected president

Source: Los Angeles Times

Bill Clinton will step down from the board of the family's namesake foundation if Hillary Clinton is elected president, he announced Monday.

In an open letter, Clinton wrote that if his wife wins the election, he would stop fundraising for the Clinton Foundation and that the foundation would only accept donations from U.S. citizens.

"Since Hillary began her presidential campaign in 2015, Chelsea and I have made it clear that the work the Clinton Foundation started should continue if Hillary is elected, but that changes would be necessary," he wrote. "While it would be presumptive to assume a victory in November, now that Hillary is her party’s nominee, it would be irresponsible not to plan for it."

The letter comes as Donald Trump repeated his call for the foundation to be shut down and return the donations it took from foreigners and governments outside the U.S.

1. They should fold it, or transfer assets to the Gates or Carter Foundations

there shouldn't be even the appearance of impropriety when she's elected president.

If Trump were to win and start a foundation and take unlimited donations, I would fully expect people to cry foul at that as well. It's not a fake concern.

I'm not confident you understand what the foundation does, how it's funded, nor where those fond go to. It's not a fake lack of confidence.

They told us Howard Dean was not stable with the Dean scream

Al Gore was boring

Kerry somehow had no honor with his service in n Vietnam

and have been throwing for years that Hillary is "shrill, not likable, and dishonest", and then do polls asking if Hillary is likable

Now Kirk was an investigation on President Obama on the Iran deal

The whole media is a fraud

7. Where did you see this? I saw no mention of him remaining involved.

The article only says he's stepping down from the board and won't be fundraising. Is there more information out there about this?

There is more implied in the letter, which is lengthy about how important the foundation work has been/is in his life, but this statement is the most direct: "While I will continue to support the work of the Foundation, I will step down from the Board and will no longer raise funds for it." It's unspecified what that support will entail, but there's no statement that he'll no longer be actively involved. Just no board title and no fundraising.

11. But if he stayed at the foundation would it be harder to claim he was getting part of a third term?

HRC already rocked a lot of boats when she suggested Bill was going to be in charge of the economy.

Just close it down or transfer it to some other handlers the optics look bad, and the media and wingnuts will throw shit until something sticks. I hear more emails to come out and Wikileaks and all kinds of stuff, so in order to end any controversy they should just get out of the foundation now so there is absolutely no possibility of losing any votes over this nonsense.
