Much as the Christian west invokes "God" at seemingly every opportunity. From "God bless" for a simple sneeze, to "God damn them all to hell" in iconic entertainment to the young couple upstairs yelling "oh God!" for three minutes every day at seven, to cheers and biblical passages at prime-time sporting events... again, you name it.

The actions of Jihadis almost always involve yelling "Allahu Akbar" as they do their vile deeds. It IS relevant.
This is just reporting that they've done it yet again.

If the killer had been screaming "merry Christmas" or used a racist term for Asians while stabbing her, that would have been reported. If a while guy screams "die n****r!!" while stabbing someone, that'd be in the headline.

What if a murderer assumed to be Christian had yelled, "Oh god!" while stabbing someone? Would that be in the headline? I wager there would be no headline and you would be hearing nothing of this case if the murderer had been an Australian assumed to be Christian.

They are investigating a number of possible motivations, including drugs misuse, mental health issues and extremism.

Some people don't seem to know or care they are being manipulated.

And yes, if there was an attack where the killer was saying "God told me to do it" it WOULD be news. It has BEEN news when it does happen. Just like "the devil told me" makes news. Simply yelling "Oh God" doesnt mean anything.
The difference is that those acts arent condoned by mainstream leaders of that religion, nor are the attacks celebrated by those religious groups and their news outlets.

I have yet to see any stories of Maronite Christians carrying out any terror attacks while yelling it. Likely because they dont commit terror attacks.

The Australian government has not 'cracked down on Muslim immigration'. As revolting as our conservative govt is they haven't singled out Muslims. Both sides of politics have a pretty crappy stance on refugees, but neither major party engage in discrimination based on religion.

The minor party that wants to ban Muslims, mosques, hijabs, Burkinis, and anything with the slightest whiff of halal is the One Nation party led by Pauline Hanson. You should google her. I suspect you'd like some of her ideas and would likely vote for her if you were Australian

To put things in perspective for anyone in the US who hasn't been here, Indonesia, New Zealand and possibly some pacific islands are far closer to NE QLD than it is to Perth. It takes me just under 3 hours to get from Sydney to Auckland, but the time I went to Perth it took around 6 hours.

I suppose if you are going to go to jail anyhow, then throw in a "Allahu Akbar" and you can walk in the joint with instant friends and cred, instead of just being some loser who wouldn't take "No!" for an answer.

African Americans, Hispanics, gays and liberals look bad. Stoking fear of minorities and hatred for liberals are things they are very good at.

Some liberals seem to jump at the chance to post stories that stereotype these minorities as violent and dangerous, and neglect to remind us that 99% of the people in any race, gender, ethnic, sexual orientation or religious group are good people.
