Five people dead after being pulled from sea at Camber Sands

Two more bodies have been pulled from the water at Camber Sands in East Sussex, hours after three men died at the popular beach on Wednesday.
The bodies were discovered at about 8pm by a member of the public as the tide receded. A search is under way for a further missing person, with two lifeboats and a helicopter combing the water off the coast.
Richard Tollett, lifeboat operations manager at Rye Harbour, told the Press Association the RNLI received a request to launch at around 8.30pm.
He said: As the tide has receded it has left a couple more bodies on the beach in the sand at Camber. A member of the public found them and that person reported another one in the water so we have got two lifeboats and a helicopter searching the area trying to find the other one.

Two more bodies have been pulled from the sea at Camber Sands, hours after three men died on the hottest day of the year.
The RNLI said there could possibly still be a third person in the water at the East Sussex beach.
It follows an earlier rescue operation to save three men who were brought out of the water within 30 minutes of each other, but they all died.
Seven other people have died around the coastline since Friday.

(1,439 posts)Five men who died at Camber Sands got into trouble after failing to realise how quickly the tide would come in, the RNLI has said.
The men were on a day trip from London to the Sussex resort on Wednesday.
The RNLI said it did not believe that rip currents were responsible for the deaths. Police said the group were in their late teens and early 20s.

(58 posts)oh my god.... that's so tragic... I really don't like to read such things but I always read them for an unknown reason... I am always afraid that with some of my family members might happen the same and I'm getting all jittery.
