Donald Trump: 'Hillary Clinton Is a Bigot'
Source: ABC news
Donald Trump called Hillary Clinton a "bigot" while addressing the crowd at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Mississippi, tonight.
"Hillary Clinton is a bigot who sees people of color only as votes, not as human beings worthy of a better future, Trump said as he appealed to African-American voters.
Trump was joined on stage by Nigel Farage, one of the leaders of the "Brexit" movement.
Farage spoke to the crowd assembled about the parallels between this election and the British referendum to leave the European Union, while Trump called for the U.S. to re-declare our independence.

Here is another account that says his Jackson, Mississippi audience was "overwhelmingly white." (Though the city of Jackson is 79% black.)

And here is an account by NBC news that mentions that his remarks on Hillary were prepared -- not ad-libbed.

(2,322 posts)It's like when racists proudly say "I'm not PC!" What they mean is that they're being bluntly honest. But the PC person isn't. The PC person thinks they're not racist, but they're just as racist (insists the racist).
This is what Trump is saying to his racist audience. Hillary is pretending she's not racist, but she's lying. Trump, on the other hand, like his audience, is blunt and tells it like it is. People think what he's saying is racist, but it's just the truth. They don't like it not because it's racist, but because it's not "PC."
THAT is what he's saying. And it makes him feel and seem superior, and it makes his base feel superior. All those poor Hillary voters are being duped!

(17,382 posts)What Trump needs are the racists in denial. Trump needs to assure them that just because they agree with Trump's racist message does not mean that they are racists.

(2,322 posts)...they want to vote for him, but their black friends will find out and never forgive them. Now they can say, "Oh, Hillary's no better. In fact, she's worse because she pretends she's not bigoted...."
This is very different from racists in denial. Denial means you don't want to appear that way at all. It's why you have gay men pretending to be heterosexual and voting against gay rights. If a candidate who favored gay rights said to these deniers: "vote for me, because your candidate is for gay rights, too, he's just lying." They wouldn't change sides. They need to stick with the person who is most vocally against gay right (lying or not), because they want to appear to be against gay rights, too. To do otherwise would be to "out" them.
So, no, it's not the racists in denial who Trump is luring in with this. Because racists in denial, by that very definition, want to seem liberal and will outwardly support Hillary to prove it (though what they do in the voting booth might be different).
BUT racists who are not in denial, but who know admitting that they support Trump will cause them troublethey will jump at this. It's like those who say "Democrats and Republicans, there's no difference...." Most of the time, that's said by republican voters to democrats. Translation: "don't hassle me about voting GOP; the two sides are the same and it makes no difference." This is the same. "Don't hassle me about voting for Trump because he's a racist. So is Hillary."

Trump has issued many warnings about people in 'certain parts of Pennsylvania' "cheating" in November to elect Hillary. Nothing racist about that either!

These may be essential debates to watch. I didn't watch last time, because I knew there was no way mittens had a chance.
