Maine Gov. Paul LePage leaves profanity-laced voicemail for state lawmaker

Source: CNN

Maine Gov. Paul LePage left an expletive-laced voicemail for a state lawmaker that goaded him to "prove that I'm a racist" after a series of controversial comments once again put the governor in the news.

LePage left the message for Democratic State Rep. Drew Gattine on Thursday, according to the Portland Press Herald, which also posted audio of the voicemail. The uncensored audio message contains several explicit phrases.

CNN requests for comment to Gattine and LePage's office Friday morning were not immediately returned.

The bombastic Republican governor is known for his loose style, which sometimes draws criticism. He is a strong supporter of Donald Trump, and Trump's campaign recently hired his daughter to work on the race in Maine.

“Mr. Gattine, this is Gov. Paul Richard LePage,” a recording of the governor’s phone message says. “I would like to talk to you about your comments about my being a racist, you (c)ock sucker. I want to talk to you. I want you to prove that I’m a racist. I’ve spent my life helping black people and you little son-of-a-bitch, socialist (c)ock sucker. You … I need you to, just friggin. I want you to record this and make it public because I am after you. Thank you.”[/blockquote

You can tell how "upset" he was. Glad there was distance between him and the guy he phoned.........otherwise I think he'd probably have been locked up with assault charges.

His voice is barely recognizable at first, and he uses his middle name, which is odd.

The ONLY reason they got stuck with him twice is because it was a 3 way race. I'm terrified that Trump will get elected the same way. This is a pattern of behavior with LePage. How he has not been impeached is beyond me.

He is such an idiot and people were so certain there was no way he'd win. Eliot Cutler got over 8% of the vote. Most of his votes would have gone to Michaud, who would have won. I was born and raised in Maine and lived there when LePage got elected the first time. I never met a single person who voted for or liked him. In fact, everyone I knew and spoke to were embarrassed by him.

And the only metric you can use reliably is the number of people who voted for him.

And I can find no recent polls regarding his approval rating.

That guy is SUCH a train wreck, SUCH an embarrassment to the great state of Maine.

Maine has so much natural beauty, but they do very poorly when choosing politicians--for every good one, they pick at least two losers. I don't understand it.
