Jill Biden: Joe Saved Lives With Violence Against Women Act

Source: TPM

Second lady Jill Biden introduced her husband, Vice President Joe Biden, at the Democratic National Convention Thursday night by praising his work crafting the Violence Against Women Act.

"Two decades ago when he started working on the Violence Against Women Act, domestic violence was often treated her as a private family matter rather than the crime is," Biden said. "But Joe knew that he had to bring this issue out into the open. In the years since that bill has passed, I have had women tell me that their sisters or their friends would not be alive today if it weren't for him."

Biden also talked about being a full-time teacher and said her husband encouraged her to continue teaching once he became vice president. "This is who you are, Jill," she recalled him saying. "For me, being a teacher isn't just what I do, it's who I am."

but you have to love him, because he's honest & genuine in all he says and does. He's suffered through incredible personal tragedy & knows the American working class struggle which is rare in the political realm. He really gets the issues. When you add to that his sincere love for his wife and family & country, you absolutely know Obama chose well & how lucky we are that he is at the helm with our president.

Love you, Joe!

He's a great VP, and he's a GOOD man, there's no pretense, he's the real deal.
