Romney Faces Own Challenge on Jobs Message

Source: Wall Street Journal

On Friday afternoon Mr. Romney is slated to campaign in Orange City, Iowa – a state with the sixth lowest unemployment rate in the country.

But the Hawkeye State, with its 5.3% unemployment in July, is a prime example of how Mr. Romney will have to tailor his economic message to win over some swing voters.

When Mr. Romney told voters in New Hampshire Thursday that “there are forgotten promises and forgotten people,” he made sure to highlight the debt and deficit. Friday evening Mr. Romney return to Nashua, N.H. for another campaign event. At 5.4%, the unemployment rate in New Hampshire is the nation’s seventh lowest.

Iowa, New Hampshire, Virginia, Ohio, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are all battlegrounds with unemployment rates lower than the national average. And it will take some semblance of those – along with states with worse economic conditions – for Mr. Romney to win the presidency.

The unemployment rate in Sioux County is probably 3 or 4% so he'll have to lie about something else. libinnyandia Sep 2012 #2

I just saw an ad where I'm at in Virginia saying Obama's going to cut 130,000 defense jobs while Romney is going to add 340,000 jobs and cut taxes for the middle class. He'll probably run an ad in Iowa saying their unemployment rate is 9% or some other lie, since he'll do anything to win and he's got the money to drown out the facts with dishonest advertisements.
