Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) leads progressive news website Daily Koss first 2020 straw poll, coming days after she made her debut visit to Iowa as a presidential candidate.
In a straw poll of nearly 35,000 Daily Kos members, Warren, a progressive stalwart who first rose to prominence in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, leads the likely crowded Democratic primary field with 22 percent of support.
Former Rep. Beto ORourke (D-Texas) comes in second, with 15 percent, and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and former Vice President Joe Biden are close behind, tied with 14 percent each.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), whos considering a second run for the White House, trails in fifth place, with 11 percent, despite being a top pick among members of other progressive groups.

(91,965 posts)It is interesting though as it shows that she has taken the lead for THAT group. DU is similar to Daily Kos, but not the same. I have not seen any DU poll that has gotten a large number of votes. It would be interesting to see how DU rates the field this early.
However, neither DU or Daily Kos are representative of the entire Democratic field. If they were, Dennis Kuchinich might have been more viable in 2004 and 2008! In fact, it is interesting that Biden did as well as he did -- though his years as VP probably make people see him more progressive than he was seen in 2008 as one of the more centrist Democrats - especially on things like the bankrupcy bills.
