Advertisers Flee Ben Shapiro in Wake of Criticism Over Baby Hitler Comments

Source: MSN.Com

Here come the free market sponsor boycotts.

As of Saturday, at least two advertisers have pulled the plug on conservative commentator Ben Shapiro‘s eponymous podcast over the host’s controversial speech at the annual anti-abortion March for Life rally in Washington, D.C. on Friday.

“[T]he truth is that no pro-life person on earth would kill baby Hitler,” Shapiro said before adding, “Baby Hitler was a baby.”

On Twitter, relaxation and meditation app Calm responded to customer outrage about Shapiro’s “baby Hitler” speech in a late Friday night tweet announcing, “We do not align with this message. We’re pulling our sponsorship.”

He knew the untold death and destruction they would cause, and yet could not exterminate the last of them, even though he literally held the last one in his hand.

Creation of the Daleks

The Fourth Doctor was sent on a mission by the Time Lords to prevent the creation of the Daleks in the first place, or at the very least lessen the damage they would do in future. Arriving on Skaro, he discovered that many other members of Kaled Scientific Elite were against the project also. To prevent this, Davros arranged for the Thals to aim a missile at the Kaled Dome where his people resided. (TV: Genesis of the Daleks)

The Daleks turn on their creator. (TV: Genesis of the Daleks)

The newly christened Daleks (apparently paradoxically called such due to the Doctor's claims that it was their name) were sent by Davros to exterminate the Thals, supposedly in retaliation for the attack on the Kaled Dome. They turned on Davros, as they were not programmed to recognise any creature as superior to them, apparently killing him. Accidentally, whilst attempting to stop the Doctor, a Dalek triggered an explosion which destroyed the embryo room before the Thals sealed the bunker entrance and trapped the Daleks there. In the aftermath, the Doctor believed he had only held back their progress by about a thousand years or so, and that they would return. (TV: Genesis of the Daleks) Davros survived his "death" in a state of suspended animation. (TV: Destiny of the Daleks) The same Dalek that fired on Davros later became the Dalek Prime and eventually proclaimed itself to be the Dalek Emperor. (PROSE: The Evil of the Daleks, War of the Daleks)

Genesis of the Daleks (TV)

<SNIP>

Searching through the lockers, the Doctor finds a chunk of plastic explosive and detonators. There is one option left to him to stop the Daleks: genocide. He enters the incubator room to set up the explosives, intending to destroy the Daleks forever. As Sarah and Harry wait, the Doctor staggers out, with several embryonic Dalek mutants wrapped around his throat, strangling him.
Part six Edit

With Harry and Sarah's help, the Doctor frees himself and throws the mutants back into the room. All he has to do is touch two wires together, and the Daleks are destroyed. However, the Doctor hesitates; does he have the right to commit genocide? He tells Sarah that many future worlds became allies because of their fear of the Daleks. If he wipes the Daleks out, he becomes no better than they are.

Gharman approaches and tells them that Davros has agreed to the ultimatum, and the Doctor is grateful for not having to make the final decision. He disconnects the wires, and they go to the meeting. There, as Davros makes his case, the trio secretly pocket the Doctor's belongings that were confiscated earlier, but they discover the Time Ring is not there. However, Sarah finds it, and the Doctor puts it on his wrist. Meanwhile, Gharman proposes an alternative: to let the Daleks continue, not as Davros's genetically ruthless creatures, but with human strengths, weaknesses and emotions.

How the hell is that offensive? You may agree or disagree, but it's scarcely something to get riled up about.

(Seriously, Shapiro's an ass, but this "baby Hitler" line is an absurd rhetorical gambit. Does anyone seriously believe that a person's character, life-path, etc., are fundamentally written in stone at birth?)

Which is more than I can say for all the "Pro-Life" Republicans who carve out exceptions for rape and incest so they can get elected.

Now, don't get me wrong here. I'm not supporting him nor applauding him at all. I despise his kind. I am firmly pro-choice. Women are the only people who should have control of the decisions about their bodies. Not male lawmakers.

It is useful, though, to point out that if the Republicans really believed in pro-life none of them would carve out exceptions for rape or incest. One can make the case about incest that the are health issues to be considered and might be able to get to a point of saying it's okay.

There is, however, no way I can accept an argument from a "pro-life" person that it is okay to abort a baby conceived by rape. Again, do not get me wrong here. I'm not saying I believe that women should be forced to carry their rapist's baby. I'm just holding the pro-lifers accountable for what they say they believe. According to their ideology, every life is sacred. If their God allowed a woman to become pregnant as a result of rape then that life, in their ideology is sacred and should be saved. That baby is not responsible for the rape and should not be punished for it. But, so many of them allow for doing just that. If you ever get a chance to ask one of these politicians why that's okay, please do it. Preferably in front of a camera.

We call that opportunistic hypocrisy.

I saw a mention about his site and looked at a "what is this" mention. Sorry, he appears to be a fratboy w/ attitude. I never gave them the time of day as a girl, don't intend to do so now. Why would anyone go to his site or bother giving him any level of credence ... is it all just "see me, see me" with the broadcasters now. Moreover, why would DU bother to identify or give a link to this putz?

Pro-white, anti-choice extremists would have 25 million more voting against them if they had not been aborted.

"left is intolerant" bullshit the right has used to do what it does best...projection. Again, it allows them to sell to their audience, with a shred of evidence, that the "leftwing" media and corporate world is into censoring right-wing ideas.

Shapiro's angle is laughable until we take umbrage for not wanting to a kill a baby not anywhere near formed in ideation or in "evil". His premise was stupid and exposes him as the person who doesn't understand the role of nurture in conjunction with nature. It also conflates abortion with killing a baby(which is a scientifically inaccurate framing).

it was intentionally designed to trigger a reaction from us, But does not warrant one. That's feeding the trolls a whole 7 course meal.
