Undercover officer: Colleagues beat him 'like Rodney King'

Source: Associated Press

Updated 3:12 pm CST, Tuesday, January 22, 2019

ST. LOUIS (AP) — An undercover St. Louis police officer reported that his colleagues beat him "like Rodney King" when they mistook him for a protester following the acquittal of a white former officer in the fatal shooting of a black man, according to newly released court documents.

Det. Luther Hall, who is black, also described the attack as a "free for all" in an affidavit that the FBI used to justify searching four officers' cellphones. Four officers were charged in November after the FBI investigated Hall's attack and the detention of other protesters at the rally in 2017.

Hall and his partner were undercover "documenting protest activity and property destruction," FBI Special Agent Darren Boehlje wrote in affidavits supporting the application for the warrants, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

. . .

Hall said that after a police SUV pulled up, he was slammed to the ground. Hall was told to put his hands behind his back but couldn't because officers were standing on his arms, Boehlje wrote in the FBI affidavit. Boehlje wrote that Hall's cellphone screen was shattered in the melee, and he watched as an officer took out the battery out of his camera and threw the camera to the ground, breaking it.

Thankfully they didn't kill him. I like the idea that these incidents are police riots. The part of the story that just shouldn't be is that just cause the guy they beat up was a cop shouldn't make it necessarily worse. These actions need to stop regardless.

to maintain that support in good faith or honest words.

I honestly used to think they were the good guys. I s'pose one of the real drags about getting older is finding out your sacred cows are just little tin gods.

A black man working for the cops is like a chicken working for Colonel Sanders.

Once Myers, Boone and Hays learned that L.H. was a police officer, the indictment says, they made false statements justifying the assault, contacted L.H. to dissuade him from taking legal action and contacted witnesses to try to influence their testimony.

Myers also destroyed L.H.'s cellphone "with the intent to impede, obstruct, and influence the investigation," according to the indictment.

"We really need these f**kers to start acting u(p) so we can have some fun," Boone texted, after they determined they were going to be on the same team.

"A lot of cops getting hurt, but it's still a blast beating people that deserve it," said another text from Boone. He also remarked that he would be working with a black officer and referred to him as "a thug that's on our side."

Guess they didn't wait for anyone "to start acting up". Not only are they unprincipled and unprofessional, they were stupid enough to document what they were going to do.

I read a number of stories about this. The cops who knew they were going to be at the protest..planned ahead of time to beat up the protesters......

Here it is...read the entire article...at the bottom are comments that the cops planned ahead of time to beat the shit out of protesters...Oh..warning,,,,,very unpleasant and disgusting... Also, at the bottom of the story linked below, the officers tried to apologize to the officer they beat up..they were only sorry for the beat up because the four knew they were in trouble..and they are..

I hate to think how many times innocent people get beaten up like that and no one ever hears about it. We have some serious cop problems in this country and it doesn't seem to be getting better.
