Mulvaney: Trump will secure the border 'with or without Congress'

Source: The Hill

BY BRETT SAMUELS - 01/27/19 09:29 AM EST

Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said Sunday that President Trump will secure the southern border "with or without Congress," and did not explicitly rule out the possibility of another government shutdown in the coming weeks.

Mulvaney indicated that the president is prepared to declare a national emergency to direct construction of a wall along the southern border if Congress is unable to reach a funding deal to his liking.

"It’s still better to get it through legislation," Mulvaney said on "Fox News Sunday," calling the legislative process "the right way" to secure funding for a wall.

"At the end of the day, the president’s commitment is to defend the nation and he’ll do it either with or without Congress," he added.

When he says that it's "better" to have legislation he means that it's "legal."

That'd show some personal responsibility - become the wall he wants.

It is the most dysfunctional administration to have ever occupied the White House. They are a mass of contradictions with out even a shred or hint of a clear cut thought out policy. A revolving door a clowns. It is little more than a madcap circus without a ring master. The man in charge is a moron with a bad case of Twitter diarrhea.

The realization that the people in charge are so compromised that they can't be granted authentic security clearances is extremely shocking. These are people who have been in correspondence with our most dangerous enemy while the "acting" president lavishes him with adulations. It is truly as bizarre as Alice in Wonderland.

This is a disaster only waiting to be actualized.

His commitment is only to himself and PUtin because he's afraid of all that PUtin has on him. He hates America, which is what the shutdown was all about, punishing us for not giving him everything he wants. The wall is about using (probably defective) Russian steel, that's why he wouldn't cave until the Senate had removed sanctions on his preferred Russian vendor, Deripaska. Now that's been removed, he'll (hopefully) call a National Emergency and the courts will stop him in his tracks. I say hopefully because that's a hell of a lot better than another even more devastating shutdown. The proclamation of national emergency gives him the excuse he needs to sell his failure to PUtin as out of his control when the courts stop it dead. AND, he still has the hope of a SCOTUS intervention and approval of this economic suicide of a totally ineffective wall. Roberts, will you save us or prove you are a oligarch and liar and don't give a shit about our constitution and system of government?

This sound like they will be continue to take monies from other governmental agencies to cover the cost. Thereby, again, reducing government and again hurting it's employees and damaging the well being of the USA.

Threatening to bypass Congress ought to make them realize that's been his plan all along. He's using this to separate powers from them to himself, and make them irevelent anymore. The Republicans will now have to join with the Democrats to make it a veto proof measure he can't veto, or he'll just run over them time after time. Same with a National Emergency declaration of a non existing emergency at all to use to abuse his powers. The courts will strike it down , but he'll plan for that, then create any hind of chaos to claim then martial law to use next against them all in Congress , and this country. He's up to no good, and the Republicans need to unite with the Democrats now for his removal , or they'll lose any chance against this criminal.

Is it really a success in gaining a three week postponement after a devastating five week shutdown?
Will the next victory be a 10 day postponement following a two week shutdown?
I know,“reductio ad absurdum”.
