Israeli official signals no war is imminent with Iran

Source: Reuters

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - A senior Israeli official signaled on Saturday that there would be no unilateral attack on Iran in the coming weeks, saying that international pressure had kept Tehran's controversial nuclear program in check.

Speculation that Israel might attack Iranian atomic facilities alone, and soon, has soared given an unusually public dispute with the United States about how much time to allow for negotiations and sanctions to run their course before considering military action.

Amos Gilad, top aide to Defence Minister Ehud Barak, was asked in a television interview whether the Jewish high holidays, which begin on Sunday and end on October 9, would be "quiet in terms of any initiative taken by Israel".

The question followed an extensive discussion with Gilad about Iran's nuclear program, which the West suspects is geared toward producing bombs despite Tehran's denials, and about the violent outrage sweeping the Muslim world in response to an American video clip mocking the Prophet Mohammad.

If there is no imminent attack, this just goes to prove that Netenyahu's sudden escalation in rhetoric was primarily aimed to influence the U.S. election given Beni's close ties to Sheldon Adelson, who is spending millions supporting Romney.

Kichisaburō Nomura was in the White House negotiating for a calming of rhetoric between the US and Japan.

...even though most Israelis and Americans oppose a unilateral attack? Then again, perhaps if Adelson/Bebi are desperate to influence the U.S. election, then it would make sense with Romney having his talking points ready to go. Perhaps he can use the caskets of the war dead as soap box.

Finally, the U.S. media has been reluctant to explore whether Bebi's timing is motivated by the U.S. election or Bebi's tight relationship with Sheldon Adelson. In the long run, the American people could turn against Israel if the perception develops that Netenyahu was actively seeking to influence the election, since I think most folks don't know about Adelson's tight relationship with Bebi.

Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor was a sneak attack against a peaceful nation... Iran's leader's are calling for Israel to be WIPED OFF THE MAP!!! They're also trying to obtain the means to do so...

Thus, comparing an Israel attack on Iran to the Japanese attacking Pearl Harbor is silly and a false equivalency...........

to keep Isreal from starting something. This has passed into the realm of the absurd.
