Pelosi says Ryan pick makes it easier for Dems to take House

Source: AP

"On August 11, when Gov. Romney chose Ryan, that was the pivotal day," Pelosi told CNN chief political correspondent Candy Crowley on "State of the Union." "That is the day things really changed. We were on a path. I would have said to you then we were dead even. Well, the momentum is very much with us, the Medicare issue in this campaign."

On Sunday, Pelosi said the issue was at the forefront of voters' minds and that her party retained the upper hand.

"We have been saying there are three important issues in this campaign. And in alphabetical order, they are Medicare, Medicare, Medicare," the California representative said.

A CNN/ORC poll taken earlier this month indicated Medicare was among the top three most important economic issues for voters, after unemployment and the federal deficit. And a New York Times survey last week showed a significant majority of voters wanted Medicare to remain unchanged, rather than shift to a system like the one Ryan has proposed.

the Sandwich Generation can figure out all by themselves that they'd prefer to keep their assets and not be responsible for Granny and Grampas medical bills or nursing home stays. At some point, somebody is going to have to stay home and be a caretaker.

That needs to be an ad.

I did it.

If we would give people medical leave to care for elders

and pay them, even $900-1000 a month, it would be far cheaper

than what is going on now

and Granny and Grandad would like it better too!

But that would still make it a Medicaid program, I believe. And even that kicks in only after all the assets have been "spent down".

Getting Obama a 2nd term ain't enough.
We gotta flush the Republicans all the way OUT of Congress to have a chance on getting sensible policies enacted.

Now if you get it THIS time Democrats, quit being a bunch of "keep our powder dry" wimps & start fighting for social & economic justice!!
First enemy is the Republican Party.
Once they're dismantled the second enemy will be YOU...if you don't steer this country away from this Regressive madness of the past 30 to 40 years.

Are you paying attention? I sure hope so, because this year, your vote could decide the future of Medicare and Social Security.
In just a few weeks, President Obama and Governor Romney will meet to debate for the first time, and your benefits should be a major topic. The candidates need to know that we're looking for straight talk – and that the future of Medicare and Social Security matters to us when we head to the polls.
Let's show that we're serious – help us send 50,000 messages before the debate on October 3rd. Use one of the buttons below to automatically send a message to Pres. Obama, Gov. Romney, or both candidates – it just takes one click:

Here's the message you'll be sending to the candidates:

I've earned my Medicare and Social Security benefits over a lifetime of hard work, and I want to know your views on the future of these programs – before Election Day.
Millions of Americans rely on Medicare and Social Security for a secure, healthy retirement. Instead of just negative ads and 30-second soundbites, we deserve straight talk on how you plan to protect and strengthen these programs for today's seniors, and for our children and grandchildren.
Before you earn my vote, I need to know where you stand on the future of these programs.

I sent it to both candidates. This is not a group nor a demographic to piss off.
