Georgia Bar Mulligan's Faces Backlash From Civil Rights Group After Posting Racist Obama Sign
The Huffington Post | By Nick Wing Posted: 09/19/2012 1:18 pm Updated: 09/19/2012 1:23 pm

A civil rights group in Georgia says it will proceed with a demonstration against a bar in the state notorious for posting racially inflammatory messages on a roadside sign, even after the establishment removed its latest controversial statement.

Gerald Rose, founder of the New Order National Human Rights Organization, announced plans earlier this month to hold a sit-in at Mulligan's Food & Spirits in Marietta, Ga. in response to its decision to post a sign that read, "I heard the White House smelled like collard greens and fried chicken."

Mulligan's has since taken down the message, ReddingNewsReview.com reports, but that hasn't swayed Rose.

"I don't trust them," Rose told the outlet. "Even though they took down the sign we are still going to keep our eyes open and move forward with our protest."

and had never seen any signs of bigotry or racism. I can say the same for the very red county of Cherokee where I live.

Confederate flags are a sign too, as is loser in OP. Cobb was also home of Georgia's last "openly" racist gubnor - Lester Maddox.

But I grew up with this crud.

And another thing- if you can not or will not engage in Georgia society, you have no hope whatsoever of persuading waverers that, yes, the Democratic Party is looking out
for their best interests...

I wish my place smelled like collard greens and fried chicken with gravy and mashed potatoes. With a skillet of whole grain yellow cornbread on the side and for dessert, fresh strawberries, whipped cream and short cake. Fat chance of that. Oh, well, I can dream, can't I...

The culture of slavery and apartheid has never really disappeared in the South. To keep people compliant, keep them poor and dumb, and always remind them they are better than whoever they should hate, fear, or own. Ownership of another human being requires a mindset that doesn't see that slave as a human being. That's been the motto of the South pre and post Civil War. But it is changing.. Change comes a lot slower than most of us would like.

Segregated North Carolina as a kid 8 years in Texas as an adult. Have spent the better part of the last year in southwest Texas caring for my father-in-law and it's still pretty racist around here. I know the south has changed for the better, but it's still solid red and haters abound. Here in SW Texas, there are more Latinos than whites, but the vote will be solid Republican.
