Coronavirus update: Virus spreading faster outside China, health officials around world worry about

Source: Omaha World Herald-AP-CNN

About 7,700 cases of a new viral respiratory illness have been confirmed since an outbreak began in the Chinese city of Wuhan.

Scientists have identified the illness as a new kind of coronavirus. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses, some of which cause the common cold. Others have evolved into more severe illnesses, such as SARS and MERS, although so far the new virus does not appear to be as deadly or contagious.

Symptoms of the new virus include fever, cough and shortness of breath.

WHAT'S NEW:

— The virus has killed 170 people, and the virus has now infected more people in China than were sickened there during the 2002-2003 SARS outbreak.

1. Maybe it is "spreading faster outside of China" because China is lying about case numbers...

Why else would it spread faster in other parts of the world than it is in one particular part?

I mean, besides the CCP's amazing superpower of just plain ordering viruses to behave differently in their kingdom.

only makes sense as they have a huge population.
Hopefully though they cracked down fast enough to actually manage to do that otherwise it could in theory get as bad as that flu outbreak we had a few years ago.

YouTube video (2 1/2 minutes):

This on top of the draconian lockdown of Wuhan and several other large cities, something I haven't heard of in any other country yet....

9. The article doesn't say "faster than China"; it's "faster than previously, outside China"

which actually means "it is starting to spread, outside China", because it hadn't, previously.

World health officials expressed worry that the virus is starting to spread between people outside of China.

people not seeking treatment, it will become a pandemic, people won't leave their homes, the economy will crash, people will starve, people will die at rate not seen since the black plague, in other words, the new norm in a fascist society.

8. The death toll is comforting low.

And keep in mind, that the majority of those (maybe all of them) who have died are older people with underlying health problems. It's not as though formerly healthy young people are falling down dead.

Get a grip, everyone.

12. I'm a little concerned about the unofficial reports of uncounted dead.

People who were said to have died of 'pneumonia' yet carted off for cremation by people in full protective gear.

Again, not confirmed, but it would explain some of the dodginess in the China reports.
