The fact is, she's worn the dress more than once, and she wore it to monetize her allegations. I want Trump gone as much as anyone, but Carroll has done a lot to discredit and needlessly complicate her own lawsuit.

I will bet that before she went public, she met with lawyers and they had it tested before the photo shoot in order to be prepared for what they hoped could be brought to trial.

The photo shoot was the PR launch to tell the truth and they let the accused know in advance that there was evidence and it had been preserved and “hung up and not worn since”.

That was a deliberate and purposeful statement. Jean Carroll is a smart woman with people around her and they made sure when they began this to dot the i’s and cross the t’s. And preserve the chain of evidence.

But if the judge grants the request and issues a subpoena for it, trumps refusal to provide it would be damning to his case. It would probably be a slam dunk victory for the plaintif.

Quickly, someone put Trump on the stand and swear him in

if not for the whole "chain of custody" problem.

DNA is the same no matter where they take the sample. That’s why all they need is a sample of spit. The question is whether the DNA sample that’s on the dress is sperm. If it is they have a case for rape or sexual assault. If it isn’t then it just means he left DNA from another type of encounter.

According to a longer article in WaPo, "The lab noted that acid phosphatase activity, a 'presumptive indication of the presence of semen,' was not detected."

She's quoted in that article as saying that after not wearing the dress for 25 years, she wore it to the photo-shoot for the NY Mag article about her book.

I'd be kind of surprised if the request is successful.
