Trump to attend SpaceX launch in Florida

Source: The Hill

President Trump will attend a major SpaceX launch at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida next Wednesday, according to a White House official.

NASA astronauts are scheduled to fly on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft on May 27, lifting off from the Kennedy Space Center complex at Cape Canaveral. It will be the first time that NASA has launched astronauts from the United States to the International Space Station since 2011.

The flight will mark the last flight test for the Crew Dragon spacecraft before it enters regular service. The capsule will blast off with a Falcon 9 rocket.

Trump acknowledged Thursday that he was considering attending the launch in Florida. The trip will be Trump’s fourth to a battleground state in the same number of weeks and will mark his first trip not related to the federal response to the novel coronavirus.

Florida represents a key battleground state for the president as he seeks reelection; Trump won the state narrowly in 2016. The RealClearPolitics polling index shows former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, with a slight edge over the president in the Sunshine State.

Will curse the Space-x program to failure.

Just watch.

Every thing he gets near turns to absolute shit. And death. And financial ruin.

Every. Single. Thing.

Even better.......he did nothing to contribute.

If I was one of the crew I'd be sh*ting bricks.

The director of human spaceflight abruptly quit last week... now Trump is turning the launch into a political event.

I'm getting a bad feeling about this. I hope I'm wrong.

I was planning on just watching the launch from my back yard but if Trump's motorcade is going to take 405 across the lagoon to Kennedy I might have to park along the road so I can flip him off in person.

I drove by Mar-a-Lago & flipped it off 3 times, but Cheeto Benito wasn't there. Flipping him off in person is now on my bucket list.

I might even get to see a Blackhawk helicopter or two patrolling Trump's route. I had one fly over me once when I was on the edge of the lagoon to watch the launch of a classified military payload.

Standard communications satellite launch: Lagoon patrolled by sheriff's boat.

Classified military payload launch: Blackhawk over your head checking you out for threats.

I mean, I've seen the videos. They put a cameraman right below the rocket so he can film the launch.

A lot of people are saying it's the best seat in the house.
