Department of Transportation says China hasnt approved requests by U.S. airlines to resume flights after they were suspended amid the pandemic

The U.S. plans to block Chinese airlines from flying passengers to and from the U.S. by June 16, saying China has failed to approve U.S. airlines from conducting passenger service to China.
Some U.S. airlines have sought to resume service to China this month, after suspending flying there earlier this year as the coronavirus pandemic took hold.

(16,035 posts)Any search of the flights available shows flights on US carriers to China. Not getting this one...except, we have to consider where this is coming from.

China's in charge of the criteria the passengers have to comply with--temperature, medical checkups, etc.--regardless of carrier.

(7,820 posts)...And so will they, and Canada gets all the money for direct flights. Real smart to do that too in a recession where our vulnerable airlines are suffering and must be bailed out, too.
