Biden Vs. Trump: Neck And Neck In Texas, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds

Source: Quinnipiac Polling institute

President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are locked in a very tight race in Texas, with Trump receiving 44 percent of the vote and Biden receiving 43 percent in a general election matchup, according to a Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pea-ack) University poll released today. Democrats go for Biden 90 - 5 percent, independents do the same 45 - 36 percent, and Republicans go for Trump 87 - 6 percent.

Voters say 54 - 40 percent that Trump would do a better job handling the economy, but say 49 - 43 percent that Biden would do a better job handling health care. Voters are split on who would do a better job handling the response to the coronavirus, as 47 percent say Biden and 45 percent say Trump.

"Too tight to tell in Texas. As the country confronts chaos and COVID-19, perhaps one of the most important states of all is a toss-up," said Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy.

Several Banks and Business guru's are forecasting massive layoffs after December 1 st .

This will be a major reality check for states like Texas.

I know how you feel, with it being Texas and all.

However if Dems really put fourth the effort, Texas will one day go back to being blue. Hey, look at us here in California--the state that used to be red and all in for Ronnie Raygun, and Bob Dornan. Thuglicans are thankfully irrelevant here in California now, as they SHOULD be

Hell we don't even have an Orange County/Orange Curtin here in California any longer. Katie Porter made that happen.

Katie is turning into the ultimate "Rock Star" not only in Washington, but all across the country, and that's a GREAT thing.

Tsunami in Orange County

What convinced the birthplace of modern American conservatism to send only Democrats to Washington?

Ever since California's Orange County helped power the rise of Barry Goldwater and the Reagan Revolution, political observers have viewed it as the quintessential Republican stronghold. Such congressional representatives as Dana Rohrabacher and Robert Dornan personified the belligerent far right, the Orange County Register promoted a hard-edged libertarian worldview, and Republican lawmakers such as Christopher Cox, Darrel Issa, and Ed Royce wielded considerable clout on Capitol Hill.

Named for orange groves long vanished, the suburban region south of Los Angeles was known for Disneyland, beautiful beaches, master planned communities, and a powerful conservative business class that exercised national political influence via the Lincoln Club, a high-rolling conservative fundraising group. Republican senators from across the nation made the pilgrimage to Orange County much as Democrats flocked to West Los Angeles and San Francisco to fill their coffers.

But nothing lasts forever. When Santa Ana, located in the center of Orange County, became one of the most Latino cities in the nation, the time was ripe for the upset victory of Loretta Sanchez over Bob Dornan in 1996. Additionally, a post-industrial boom transformed the county's economy into one of the most dynamic in the nation. For decades, wealthy real-estate developers such as Donald Bren (of The Irvine Company) had been the power behind the throne, picking and choosing who would serve on the Board of Supervisors and who would be the Republican nominee for governor. But OC also hosted the U.S. headquarters of pharmaceutical giant home Allergan and dozens of medical device companies, and was home to Quiksilver, Obey, and the surfwear industry.

...I agree! Georgia has been trending in the correct direction but with the strangle hold the GOP has on every aspect of the state government its incredibly hard for us Dems to make that final push to topple their corrupt regime!

...But Im confident it will happen I just don't know when. And like you said I hope Im wrong & SHOCKED & it happens this November!!

Texas is a tough one to get over to the blue side—all those right-wing, gun-loving, anti-government extremists in rural red parts of the state. Until populations in the major cities balance their vote, the state will stay red. I think it might not be there yet, but I would be thrilled to be wrong.

However this is still great if true because it's far harder to defend so many red states and win the normally blue ones he needs to win.

If people vote, that is.

Most of my friends are too "woke" for Biden, and constantly trash him.

Either way, it's going to be very close. Even closer than Cruz/Beto in 2018.

I have to admit that I was one of the hand-wringers over these protests initially.

It's not that I didn't understand them, but the result of my lack of trust in fellow white voters who tend to be the "law and order" types. And I figured we could get four more years of Trump, making life worse for everybody (including the protestors) in the long-run.

I'm so relieved that it doesn't seem to be playing out that way!
