I’m paraphrasing as I don’t have the exact quote in front of me, but listening to him it sounded to me like he believed it very possible vaccinations could begin before year’s end.

Of course first vaccinations would go first to first responders, medical personnel and other frontline workers. They would be followed by the most vulnerable, as vaccine stocks allow. The majority of the public would get theirs early next year.

It sounds like they’ve already begun manufacture of many millions of doses of the mostly likely to be approved.

I mean, almost every illness has a basic list of problems & side effects. But this shit has a new symptom or side effect every week. You cant taste or smell. Your hair falls out. Headaches. Heart problems. Etc etc. And many seem to have no relation to the respiratory system.
But I am not a conspiracy guy either. Like what seems 1/2 the world is now days.

Hopefully as we learn more about it we will have the information we need to figure out therapeutics. Remember for instance that the aids virus has been around for 30 years or more and we are still learning about it and we still do not have a vaccine for it. Of course some conspiracy theories also said that it was man-made.

And they credited a few things; people paying better attention, more info on treatment & possibly a weaker virus. I've heard similar stories from other areas as well

I've seen nothing to suggest this virus is somehow weaker. Deaths are going up again. We are averaging around 1,000 a day.

One updates people on FB on a semi-regular basis on our city page. He has said from the start that people need to pay attention & that this is a real issue. Our hospital also releases covid admission numbers on a daily basis & we can see numbers go up & down much quicker than the original spike. So I believe what he's saying. And he just said its "possible" that it could be weaker than before, as all viruses mutate as time goes by. SARS just went away all of a sudden after 8-9 months and still nobody knows why! Be great if that happened with this, but seriously I doubt it.

The case numbers arent as important to me as the hospitalizations. We all know there was sparse testing in the first phases of this, so a ton of cases were missed. But you cant hide/fake/ screw up admissions.

They are just spinning what is essentially the start of a Phase 3 trial. There are already four other Phase 3 trials at the moment, so this is not new. Given Russian hackers were caught trying to break in and steal the research of other countries' research efforts over Covid, I doubt they are ahead. Also Putin's image is taking a major blow at the moment inside of Russia, he has to be demonstrating he's on top of this and getting things done.

I agree we need international cooperation here and that WHO should be more funded. But I also want to make sure that whatever is reported is correct. When Cold War Language ("Sputnik&quot is used, this suggests there is motivation beyond just the basic medical science. That is how Chernobyls are created.

But to repeat, what they have is a successful test with a very small group of people. They are about to enter into Phase 3 trials. The ramp-up they are doing is no different than the contracts which have already been done in the US and UK to various pharma companies to prepare to distribute large doses of the vaccine once it is available.

...Russia is known to take risks. Sometimes it works...other times, not so much. Obviously, even in the USA and Europe, a rushed vaccine still gets significant testing. Whereas in Russia, hey, lets test it on the populace.

Some vaccines are dangerous and can make the disease worse. So there is a real danger in not fully testing the vaccine.
