Fauci: It's 'entirely conceivable' we could be 'way down' on level of cases by November

Source: The Hill

Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, said early Thursday that he believes coronavirus cases could be “way down” by the time the elections come in the first week of November.

“It’s up to us. It’s really in our hands. I really do believe based on the data we see in other countries and in the United States, in states and cities and counties that have done it correctly, that if we pay attention to the fundamental tenets of infection control and diminution of transmission, we could be way down in November. It is entirely conceivable,” Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert, said on CNN's "New Day."

“It isn’t inevitable that we need to be way up there as we get towards [the] election. And I feel that very strongly, if we do things correctly, and we start right now to do that. Everyone, all states, cities, have to pull together to do that.”

As much as I would like to see that cases go down. The rest of the world is proving otherwise. Cases has been on the rise in countries where they've "beaten" Covid - and those countries masked up and locked down. How much of this statement is due to the fact that he's trying to damper his "take caution" messages because of threats against his family? He needs to be firm and show us numbers and data, maybe in easy to understand charts for Rumpees.

We are seeing numbers decline in the states and cities where people are doing this. And we're seeing the opposite in places where they don't follow the guidelines.

Back in March I had a lot of anxiety about living in a congested city with lots of people around. But over time I feel safer now being surrounded by urban liberals who follow the guidelines. Being around conservatives can literally kill you.

showing a majority of us are following guidelines. But as long as 30% proudly flaunts their disdain for the guidelines , we will continue to experience hot spots.

Months ago, many RWers were gloating online that it was killing off liberals in cities. The current hot spots are in southern states and many rural areas where people rejected the guidelines.

I hope by late spring 2021, there's a proven and widely-available vaccine. I don't expect any better than that.

Until then, I'll keep to the mask and distancing.

We had a significant one day rise of COVID positive here in my county thats equates to a 5% of our current total for the year. In ONE day. And the push to reopen schools with NO infrastructure for remote teaching and a student base that 50% lack internet at home.

what could go wrong?

Fauci: No one can predict how bad the pandemic will get this fall
By Yasemin Saplakoglu - Staff Writer 3 days ago

"I do not know...nor can anyone know what the fall is going to bring," Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said today (Aug. 3) during a Q&A put together by the Journal JAMA Network. Back in the spring, when the coronavirus was mainly ravaging the northeast, there was talk of a "second wave" in the fall, Fauci said. That was assuming these numbers would have dropped down to a baseline...but they have not.

"You look at our numbers now...we're right in the middle of the first wave here," he said. For the past couple of weeks, the U.S. has been tallying more than 60,000 cases a day and for the past week, around 1,000 deaths per day.

"We've got to get those numbers down, if we don't get them down then were going to have a really bad situation in the fall," Fauci said.

anyone with regular flu symptoms won't know if it's COVID or not. It's going to cause quite the ruckus in the emergency rooms methinks.
