Over 90 coronavirus cases linked to Ohio man attending church service
Source: The Hill
The coronavirus spread to over 90 people in Ohio after an infected man attended a church service earlier this year. 91 people from five counties in the state developed symptoms of COVID-19 after a 56-year-old man with coronavirus attended a church service. Fifty-three of the cases resulted from fellow worshipers at the service, who later spread COVID-19 symptoms to others in their community. Over a dozen children, including one as young as one year old, developed symptoms by July 4 following the service, according to the graphic.
This shows the spread of the virus to at least 91 different people resulting from just one person with #COVID19 attending a church service. It spread like wildfire. The virus also spread to older worshippers and people with whom they came into contact, including one man over the age of 65.
Governor Mike DeWine on Tuesday also shared several other examples of COVID-19 spreading in gatherings of friends and family. He pointed to an Ohio wedding where the brother of the groom was symptomatic but attended the event. Fifteen people are now sick, including the bride, groom and a grandfather.
Ohio has confirmed at least 97,471 COVID-19 cases and 3,618 fatalities as of Thursday.

(8,910 posts)If they die, then that must be what GOD wanted.
I have a friend like this. So I asked is that what you want?
She said, "I'm going to die some day, If this is what GOD wants, then so be it."
I said, "You didn't answer my question. Is that what you want?"
Of course it isn't, but they'll never admit it.

(100,061 posts)I swear this is becoming almost a template for how *NOT* to do things. While you're checking for fevers, someone not showing a fever but showing other symptoms could get into a place and really do some damage. We need better screening methods.

(64,990 posts)CDC data show that symptomatic patients only showed fever 44% of the time.
This page does say that patients needing hospitalization had fever 89%.
But, 44% of symptomatic people have a fever.
The other 5 out of 9 would not be filtered out because of fever checks.

(5,721 posts)It did no good to argue with management. And my coworkers who didn't want to wear a mask used "I had my temperature checked" as their excuse. Finally, masks were mando'd here (second offense costs you your job), but everyday I have to cope with at least one asshole who's being "clever" about it: nose-cocking, doing the chinderwear thing, or just straight-up hanging the mask off one ear because they think it won't be enforced.

I feel like all this COVID security theater (the temperature checks, plexiglass barriers, overly excessive hand sanitizing, etc) is similar to what happened after 9/11 and they started implementing all the security at the airports - it doesn't really do anything to prevent anything, it's just for show and doesn't really help things much.
