Kansas House speaker was hospitalized for COVID-19. Governor criticizes what he did next

LAWRENCE
Kansas House Speaker Ron Ryckman disclosed Thursday he had been hospitalized for the coronavirus, prompting Gov. Laura Kelly to criticize his decision to attend a July meeting where Kelly and other officials were present without revealing his diagnosis.

Ryckman, an Olathe Republican, is the highest-ranking Kansas official known to have caught the virus. He worked with other lawmakers to craft a compromise with the Democratic governor in June that limited her power over the summer to close businesses and limit mass gatherings to slow the spread of the virus.

Ryckman told GOP lawmakers in an email Thursday afternoon that he had previously been hospitalized, but was recovering. In a brief interview, Ryckman said he tested positive for COVID-19 the week of July 13 and was admitted to the hospital a few days later. He said he was hospitalized for a week before being discharged.

. . .

“Speaker Ryckman’s decision to attend the State Finance Council meeting after being released from the hospital, while concealing his diagnosis from those of us in the room and taking his mask off, was reckless and dangerous,” Kelly said in a statement.

selfishness and total lack of concern for others is to be expected.

I honestly believe that republicons want to TAKE everything that is good, and SHARE everything that is bad.

If he was actually pro-life, he would give a shit about his fellow man and not potentially expose them to a virus that has already killed over 160,000 Americans. WHAT A DUCHE

if 160,000 Americans are DEAD from the virus, maybe not enough REPUBLICAN senators are getting the virus.
Seriously, I hate what they have done to this nation. The Constitution matters in this country, but not so much to the Republican Party of TRUMP.

he was giving trump guidance from putin, and/or he was coordinating with the trump white house. if he used 600 of the loudest radio stations in the country to warn instead or deny covid trump would have had to do the same and this woul dhave been completely different

if americans want democracy they can start with their local rw radio stations

and while players kneel, their teams continue to broadcast their games on 100+ covid-denying KKK radio stations

by cosponsoring a bill that ended the practice of being able to submit bills anonymously in the lege. Transparency is a good thing. He was on the right side there.

Didn't study what his bible said about how to treat poor people, sponsored a bill to waste money drug testing welfare recipients.

He wanted to find drug addicts at the public trough, he should have sponsored a bill to test his fellow state legislators.

Obviously bible school didn't teach him about how diseases spread. He needed to be fever free for a solid 48 hours before he met with anyone else, and he needed to wear his mask.

It's true he didn't need to be compelled to share his diagnosis. He did need to protect his colleagues.

Not even asking this much "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" Just asking that your selfish actions dont kill them. It really is pretty easy. Wear a mask and do whatever is necessary to limit the transmission.

Why is this so hard for these right wing nuts?
