7,650 new Florida coronavirus cases reported Thursday; 120 new deaths

TAMPA, Fla. - The Florida Department of Health says the number of known cases of COVID-19 in the state rose by 7,650 Thursday as the virus spreads and as more people are tested across the state. The total number of cases in Florida is now 510,389.
The number of Florida resident deaths has reached 7,747, an increase of 120 since Wednesday's update. In addition, a total of 124 non-Floridians have died in the state. Locall, Polk County reported six new deaths, Hernando and Highlands each reported four, Citrus and Pinellas each reported two, while Hillsborough, Manatee, and Sarasota counties each reported one.
Of the 510,389 cases, 504,768 are Florida residents while 5,621 are non-Florida residents currently in the state.

Today's new case number represents the 65th straight day with new cases near or over 1,000 per day. The rate of positive new tests has increased during that time period, but has begun to trend down slightly. It was at 8.34% on Tuesday, the most recent date available.
