(34,195 posts)Trump has done that in past meetings with Democrats.
Articles at the time reported it was a 'negotiating technique' Trump often used in his business dealings.
After storming out, often people would give in to Trump.
Guessing Trump told him to do this.
Pathetic !

(6,265 posts)this is an election ploy. Stall, stall, stall till closer to the election and then give the minions some crumbs, maybe a little more, probably a little less so trump and his cronies up for election can say, see, see we gave you something, now vote for us and we'll do more, blah, blah, blah, bulshit, bullshit, bullshit

(3,166 posts)And he enraged many Republicans in his district (NC-11) when he waited almost till the last minute to leave his seat, thinking that he had picked his replacement who later lost in the primary to a 24-year-old.
Since our last round of re-re-re-districting, the city of Asheville has been put back into NC-11 after being gerrymandered out. That makes this district swingy for the right candidate. Moe Davis is the Democrat who is running this fall:

(1,849 posts)Several of us here at DU in the 11th district.
Welcome back! I couldn't be happier or more hopeful about our prospects.
I'm in Henderson county, a repug controlled area.
Heath Schuler, Dem and football star, was our rep before Meadows and gerrymandering.
NC does often fluctuate parties, from presidents to governors to senators and representatives in our elections.
I think Davis has what it takes to win, and we're ready to swing back to Dem and ride the blue wave!
Counting the days until early voting!

(15,265 posts)If the negotiations had been among Mnuchin, Pelosi and Schumer, a deal would've been done. But including taxophobe and tea party loony Meadows was a recipe for disaster. I guess Meadows thinks Trump can just executive order his way out of this mess.

(65,159 posts)It is malpractice by the Repukes. I read Pelosi and Schumer lowered their offer to $2 trillion and they are still far apart! Good for the Dems not going lower.
