Cash-strapped Trump campaign awaits a bailout from big donors

Source: Politico

Republican Party megadonors are racing to bail out President Donald Trump’s cash-strapped reelection campaign, with a newly formed super PAC pouring a further$25 million into battleground states.

Preserve America is set to begin running a trio of TV commercials savaging Democrat Joe Biden as Republicans express growing alarm over the president’s absence from the airwaves. Trump — who went dark for part of August and has since cancelled advertising in key states — is being outspent more than 2-to-1 by Biden this week, according to the media tracking firm Advertising Analytics.

The outside group, which is expected to draw funding from prolific GOP givers including Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus, is rushing to fill the void. Starting late this week, the super PAC will begin airing ads in seven states, including some where Trump is being badly outspent.

Doesn't sound like much of a bailout. I just read Bloomberg is spending $100 million on pro-Biden ads in Florida alone.

What happened to self sufficiency? Hard work? They shouldn’t be looking for handouts! Besides, isn’t Dumpy so rich? He’s a billionaire, dontcha know! He should be like Bloomberg and just sink a bil or two into his campaign!

I like candidates who don’t go broke.

of Trump stating he was a billionaire and would simply finance his own campaign, without any donors......

Trump is probably asking the uber rich donors to make the checks out to Jared and Ivanka and he will take it from there......

I have to wonder just who is going to be stupid enough to enrich his campaign staff even more for such poor performance.

Oh, I think he'll get token amounts, maybe half a million here, quarter of a million there. It won't be what he's used to or what he thinks is his due as the savior of the plutocracy.

Shoot, the RNC called me yesterday. To my credit, I didn't give a Bronx cheer or burp and just told the kid on the line to go away. If they're calling registered Democrats, they're desperate.

promoted a con job about Trump supposedly having spent all their campaign money already. I suspected it was a scam from the start.

There are many Republican Donors who have already abandoned their financial support of Trump, so he is coercing them all saying "I don't have any money to challenge Biden". He is purely and simply manipulating the Republican donors into sending him money.

It's simply extortion from a master con man and grifter.......

They only supported Trump out of selfishness. Now that Trump seems like money wasted, they won’t write checks for a loser.

The campaign thinks it can separate itself from the candidate, but giving charity to a rich person is a “sin”, or whatever you want to call it. It’s wrong.

As for business-types, it’s just bad business to spend good money after bad.

Goya stuff is just sitting on the shelves. They always occupied a premium spot and a premium over other brands. In my regional supermarket, Goya is just sitting there. No one touches it. In Walmart, same, except in an attempt to move it they've discounted some Goya products on an end-of-aisle rack. Not much action there either, but understand I go to Walmart mornings, mid-week.

So if consumers can do it to Goya, why not Home Depot?
