After years of trying to get a new contract with UC Berkeley, within a couple of months after joining the Teamsters we had a five-year contract in which we receive a raise every year.

It's not much of a raise because UC is a public university which is financed by the State and in California that's not good right now. But it's more than the rest of the non-union-represented just got for a one time raise.

We get a 3% raise every year and depending on how long we've been working there we also get a step raise every year or every other year. A step raise is also a raise in salary.

The non-represented employees just got a one time 2% raise from the university who admits that they are underpaid by 11% in comparison to similar jobs outside the university.

Yay Teamsters!

However, all the Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, brainwashed-low information-voters who idolize the Koch Bros and tell you Unions are a bad thing....

Yet those same people will gladly take advantage of the 40 hour work week, heated work places and bathroom breaks twice a day.

Unions have fought for basic human rights.

Yes, some unions abused their power....l. but all you have to do is look at wages since St. Ronnie Reagan was in office. Worker productivity has gone up 70%... and wages have fallen to 1972 levels.

The workplace under Rethhuglican control has tuned into an "Indentured Servitude Hell Hole." "Shut up and be glad you are getting minimum wage"...... is the new normal.

UNION BUSTERS! The bosses trusty freinds. They help keep the employees over worked and underpaid. Scumbags...and they have been thriving since Reagan.
Good luck to the Muni attorneys attempting to organize. I am in SF and the attorneys here do very well as union members.

The idea that being in the Union would "split their allegiance" is right out of the Union Buster playbook.
