Police search for young suspects in Georgia after baby shot dead

ATLANTA (Reuters) - Police in a coastal Georgia town searched on Friday for two young suspects, including one possibly as young as 10, in connection with the shooting death of a 13-month-old boy who was killed as his mother pushed him in a stroller.

The child's mother said the infant was shot with a handgun as she walked him down a street in Brunswick on Thursday morning, according to Brunswick police spokesman Todd Rhodes.

Police were going door to door in area neighborhoods, looking for the suspects, he said.

"We're aggressively looking for the perpetrators," Rhodes said.

Has anyone started compiling each days gun violence into a digest? Seeing the daily, numbing onslaught of needless carnage versus the tiny proportion of "legitimate" defensive uses would be illuminating.

Maybe the CDC could do that now that Obama's untied their hands?

When is Congress and the President going to at least TRY to do SOMETHING ... to put a stop to this madness?

My heart goes out to the family of this innocent child, who's life was tragically cut short in this way. This is just a horrible, horrible tragedy, on so many levels.

What the hell kind of 10 year goes around shooting babies in strollers, anyways? I can't imagine what sort of monsters this kid's parents must be.

While watching the mother, I get a very sick feeling that she is not telling the truth! She is supposedly hysterical, but there are no tears. She is much too composed. Why shoot her in the leg and the baby in the head? No, something is NOT RIGHT about this picture!

Two youths arrested in shooting death of Georgia baby

Brunswick, Georgia (CNN) -- Two teenagers have been arrested in the shooting death of a 13-month-old boy who was in his stroller, according to police in Brunswick, Georgia.

The suspects are a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, Police Chief Tobe Green told reporters Friday. He said they are being held on suspicion of first-degree murder.

"We are turning every stone to get a motive," said Green.

the news. This is devastating, she had no chance of saving her baby, these were just animals. A few years ago it happened here, a young mother walking with her 12 yr old daughter, approached , asked for money, she had none, so they killed her in front of her daughter. No motive, just a disregard for life and access to guns.
