APNewsBreak: Data discrepancies in health sign-ups

Source: AP-EXCITE

By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR

WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 2 million people who got health insurance under President Barack Obama's law have data discrepancies that could jeopardize coverage for some, a government document shows.

About 1 in 4 people who signed up have discrepancies, creating a huge paperwork jam for the feds and exposing some consumers to repayment demands, or possibly even loss of coverage, if they got too generous a subsidy.

The 7-page slide presentation from the Health and Human Services department was provided to The Associated Press as several congressional committees are actively investigating the discrepancies, most of which involve important details on income, citizenship and immigration status.

Ensuring that health care benefits are delivered accurately is a top priority for HHS nominee Sylvia Mathews Burwell, whose confirmation as department secretary is before the Senate this week.

FULL story at link.

would be problematic; we had questions here, from DUers, about income alone.

My identity could not be verified, and I had to call an outsourcing firm to verify it. They couldn't because I don't have a credit card. I spent about 8 hours on the phone and was still denied any subsidy, as Corbett is a Koch sucking criminal

I ended up calling the number to the health exchange from the main web site and they said to send a photocopy or scan of my driver's license. I did, but they still didn't even confirm me. So, I missed out on it this year, and naturally had a heart attack about a month ago and landed in the hospital. Now I have a huge bills and am hoping financial aid at the hospital will come through for me. Otherwise, I'll be paying that bill for life. It is a HUGE bill. NC decided NOT to expand Medicaid, which I would have qualified for. I'm still angry about that. I wouldn't have this huge bill if it wasn't for the Repubs and their obnoxious refusal to accept federal aid that is there for the state to use.

they will be fixed. Nothing is perfect in a world where the Democratic administration has to be. At least they are not afraid to admit mistakes and rectify them. Always a big headline when it comes to a perceived Obama administration mistake.....

Honestly, that cyber system is a time wasting corporate clusterfuck of modern idiocratic stupidity.

Here's how it should go:

Actual living Obamacare agent: "Hello, Ms. 99%er"

Ms 99%er: "Hi".

Actual living Obamacare Agent: "Did you bring the requested documents?"

Ms. 99%er: "Yes, here they are".

Actual living Obamacare agent: "Thank you. Everything seems to be in order. Please step over to the photo booth, and then it will take a few minutes to process your "Obamacare Health Assistance License". If you have any questions after you receive your license and health care plan, please feel free to call 1-800-ACA-Easy, or stop back in at your local Obamacare office."

"Next!"

Make it just like getting a driver's license, passport, or social security card.

Seriously, why not? Oh, yeah, Third Way corporatists need to make it all as complex and chaotic as possible to insure the most profit for the largest number of 1% corporations possible, at the expense of the 99%.

Walmart executive chosen to be Obama's budget director

And now we will have a former Walmart Executive, Sylvia Matthews Burwell, running Obamacare.

:WTF:

time I have ever spent getting driver's licenses, social security cards, FBI fingerprint clearance cards, passports, voter registration cards, copies of my birth certificates, etc over the the course of four decades.

Getting my health care plan took me 63 days of miserable frustration on my computer and phone. My Healthcare.gov account is still totally fucked up, and none of it is my fault. If I could actually just talk to a human being in person, it could be straightened out in 5 minutes. As it stands, my account can't be fixed, and I'll probably have to go through the process of re-applying next year.

I've always lived in rural areas, and never had to wait over 20 minutes in a DMV or social security office.

The formula for efficient service is simple: Hire enough competent agents to handle the volume of clients efficiently and effectively.

2013 income taxes, allowing them to more easily speculate about their 2014 taxes for the application in the Obamacare Healthcare Market Plans. Suggesting that Americans begin filling out the 2014 tax forms, in October 2014 would be helpful. It used to be that if you filed your income tax return in October, you could deduct 3% off of what you owed, 2% in November and 1% off if you filed in December. Some people pay quarterly and that might help with estimating too. I believe that sign up for the coverage for 2015 will be November and December. Hopefully a person will get a letter from the IRS about estimating income for 2015. Persons who are disabled receive a statement in early Fall about the amount they have received and some get a tax form to figure tax with if taxes, let's say from a retirement pension, enter the picture.

If a person finds any discrepancies they can contact the ACA Health and Human Services and send in any additional corrections that they find after filling the initial application. ACA recalculates and if needed the insurance company bill you the difference with the monthly premium payments, you have left for this year.

I'm still not able to go on the exchange, even after calling a zillion phone numbers and spending hours on the phone, and sending in a photocopy of my driver's license to try to verify my ID. I have no credit profile, because I've never used credit. That was why they could not positively identify me. I really wanted to get it too. Hopefully, I'll have better luck next year.

I think part of the allure of the ACA a great deal of paperwork to keep bean counters employed. Big Insurance doesn't really want to pay for health care anyway.

Big ups to Ms. Burwell, who pledged to the GOP & Big Insurance that there will be no single payer as long as she has anything to say about it. Just the kind of Dem who can help up wrestle the country from the right.
