Failed Senate candidate arrested for perjury, election fraud

Source: USA Today

Senate hopeful Annette Bosworth seems to be having a rough go of it since South Dakota’s primary on Tuesday night.

Bosworth turned herself into authorities Wednesday afternoon shortly after state Attorney General Marty Jackley issued a warrant for her arrest on perjury and election fraud charges, reports the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls.

This comes after Bosworth learned on national TV during an interview with Fox News that she lost the Senate GOP nomination to former governor Mike Rounds. “Well, that’s news to me. I didn’t know that,” she told Megyn Kelly of Fox News, as they began an interview on Bosworth’s charges of a “war” on conservative women who run for office.

KELO-TV reported that Bosworth confirmed she was charged with perjury and fraud and that the candidate voluntarily turned herself in on a personal recognizance bond. Concerns had been raised during Bosworth’s campaign that she submitted nominating petitions listing herself as the person who gathered signatures, but she was allegedly out of the country when those documents were circulated.

At least they didn't call it "voter fraud" for once.

Ya know, we just don't get enough of that stuff in the school curriculum anymore. We need to get back to the basics of 1620.

If you have to wait for someone to tell you she's (he's) not a witch (warlock), you may find yourself in the forest dancing with the devil at midnight before you know what happened.

Fun trivial pursuit fact. The "Salem" witch trials were actually held in Beverly, Massachusetts, but Salem gets all the tourists and all the Halloween action. I am not sure how that happened.

PBS once did a show concluding that the town's wheat supply may have been spoiled somehow and ingesting it may have accounted for the witch hysteria. Or not.

And "the Witch of Salem" once told my fortune.

Fascinating stuff in your post, thanks! I am happily married to a witch, so a lot of the hysteria surrounding them seems odd to me.

On another board, I posted with both a witch (well, Wiccan, really) and a very fundamentalist Christian. Both were very sweet, including to each other, but also but very convicted about their respective views.

So, on one side, during Christmas season/solstice, I had the Wiccan explaining to me all the symbols that most of us have come to associate with Christmas, like the yule log (Christmas tree).

And on the other side, I had the Christian telling me that her husband would not allow her to have a Christmas tree because the Old Testament forbids bringing live trees into the home and she didn't want to kill a tree just to decorate. It was all very interesting to me. (I love learning about beliefs, customs and traditions. ) And, I could enjoy the discussion because they were so friendly.

Laurie Cabot was very sweet, too. Not at all like her image. At the time I visited Salem, her shop was still open and the Salem police had on their sleeves, as part of their uniforms, a silhouette of a witch on a broom. I wonder if they still do? I know some televangelists were making a big deal of it at one point. (Complaining, of all things, about violating the church/state divide.)

I am sure whatever god or gods that be just love the use of religious belief to divide people from each other.

Minorities including senior citizens, young voters, women voters, voters of color.

Wait, ... that's a majority.

It seems the white conservative minority commits the most election fraud.

I watched the IRS hearings on alleged discrimination against the Tea Party; and I was horrified.

They were talking about registering voters. No problem there, except for stories I'd read a couple of years earlier, about how some Republicans working for not for profits were taking care to register only right-leaning people. (And mind you, ACORN, which registered people without quzzing them first about their political beliefs is gone.)

There were also talking about making sure no one voted unless they were entitled to. And, of course, that sounded like vote caging to me.

Finally, they spoke about having nationwide conference calls every Sunday night to encourage each other and share information and strategies. And all I heard then was Koch brothers national network.

So, in all, I hope more Democrats follow your lead or otherwise get involved. I think we have to start NOW to make sure everyone has a photo ID by November, if their state requires one as well, especially the aged and disabled who may need a ride to the DMV or whoever issues photo IDs in their state.
