Feds dumping hundreds of undocumented immigrants at Arizona bus stops
Source: CSM
Tucson, Ariz.
Hundreds of migrants nabbed by the border patrol after illegally crossing the US-Mexico border through Texas have been flown to Arizona and left at Greyhound Bus stations in Tucson and Phoenix during the past month. The practice has drawn criticism from activists on both sides of the illegal immigration debate.
Critics charge that released border-crossers will vanish into the woodwork. Immigrant advocates accuse the federal government of releasing migrants without providing enough basic necessities such as food and water on days that hover around 100 degrees F.
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) calls it "another disturbing example of a deliberate failure to enforce border security policies and repair a broken immigration system" in a letter to President Obama.

Now she call President Obama for what? Federal millions to give persons some water at bus stops?
You have a water hose and running water in every home and business in your state Jan Brewer? fill up all those empty plastic containers you throw away, recycle and provide water for the short bus ride back to Mexico. What a freaking, whiner, Federal-money-grubbing, WITCH that woman is.

(22,651 posts)search immigrants drown in water canals, migrants drown, illegals die, and you can find plenty yourself.
JOHN HUNTER: Typically, they'll find them at the drops. And so for example, there's five of these big hydro drops here. Drop one, they found over a hundred bodies at drop one. Drop two, they had 60. Drop three, 60, etcetera.
from 2010 cbs- "For the first time beginning this summer, police in Arizona will be able to stop anyone they like and order a check of their ID to determine whether the person is in the U.S. illegally. The new powers just recently signed into law have reignited the national debate on immigration. Since 9/11, getting into the United States has become a good deal harder and for some much more dangerous. With border enforcement increasing, many illegal immigrants are now attempting to cross one of this country's most important irrigation projects, called the All-American Canal. The canal has become sort of a national moat on our southern border, and hundreds of people have perished in its waters. It is a carnage that has gone mostly unnoticed because many of the victims are buried without their names"
"they cross the canal, usually at night on makeshift rafts or using plastic jugs for flotation. The water is 225 feet across, 20 feet deep, with almost no rescue lines or climb-out ladders, safety devices that you would find in some other canals. The All-American is owned by the federal government but its management is controlled by a regional authority called the Imperial Irrigation District. And for ten years, Hunter has been lobbying the elected members of the Irrigation District to add safety features. They've taken votes, commissioned studies, but done almost nothing."
from an interview.
PELLEY: We're not talking about recreation here. We're talking about people desperate to come into the United States-
MENDOZA: I I understand that.
PELLEY: -and who are losing their lives in your canal.
MENDOZA: I understand that. When an individual decides to cross the desert, decides to cross the mountains, decides to jump into the canal to swim across, they're taking their life in their own hands. They have to be accountable for their actions.
PELLEY: In 2007, as the drownings continued, the board approved climb-out ladders along about one quarter of the canal's length. But they're spaced every 500 feet, a drowning man would be lucky to reach one. ""
from wiki
In 2012, the United States Border Patrol found the remains of 463 migrants in the US, of which 177 were discovered along the section of the border near Tucson, Arizona.[18] The Rio Grande Valley of South Texas reported 150 migrant remains found, a jump from 2011 due to the increased numbers of Central American migrants. A common cause of immigrant border deaths is drowning in canals, ditches, and the Rio Grande.[20]

(32,006 posts)Article is confusing, even citing hearsay about immigration policy without checking facts.
Ema Morales, dropped off at the Tucson bus station Thursday night with about 25 Central Americans, says that in her Guatemala town, "they're saying that women and children are allowed to stay."
How does ICE expect these people to return for deportation proceedings after sending them to bus stations, just because detention facilities in AZ don't accommodate children?

(32,006 posts)"I am disturbed and outraged that President Obama's administration continues to implement this dangerous and inhumane policy," Brewer said in a written statement.
Signed SB 1070, complains about mistreatment of immigrants? Lol.
Regarding the bus stations:
After being processed by the Border Patrol in Tucson, the DHS began releasing the families on humanitarian parole and dropping them off at Greyhound bus stations in Phoenix and Tucson with instructions to report to an ICE office once they reached their destinations in other cities.
DHS officials noted that the migrants being released will be kept under supervision and are still subject to deportation.

(8,280 posts)but nationally, this news needs to get out. They are dumping these humans at a bus station!

(23,946 posts)detainees were released on humanitarian parole. Meaning they were mostly women and young children fully processed by authorities and permitted to go to relatives on condition of reporting or have warrants for arrest for immediate deportation.
Some of that is actually in the post above!
It is intelligent enforcement, not knee jerk stupid jail 'em all and hang them high idiocy.

(115,677 posts)Confusion has run rampant among migrants who are released without their belongings and have no idea where they are, says Dan Wilson, who volunteers with Casa Mariposa, a Tucson organization that lends border-crossers a helping hand. "A lot of them are traveling with small children and they don't have any diapers for the trip."
