Police probe ties between Vegas shooters, Bundy

Source: AP-EXCITE

By MICHELLE RINDELS and MARTIN GRIFFITH

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Investigators are looking into whether the husband and wife who shot and killed two Las Vegas police officers over the weekend had been at Cliven Bundy's Nevada ranch during a standoff earlier this year, police said Monday

Assistant Sheriff Kevin McMahill said the two suspects, Jerad Miller and his wife, Amanda, had ideology that was along the lines of "militia and white supremacists" and that law enforcement was the "oppressor."

McMahill said the shootings were an isolated act and officers were still looking for a motive.

The two officers were having lunch at a strip mall pizza buffet when the Millers fatally shot them at point-blank range in an ambush. The suspects then fled to a nearby Wal-Mart, where they killed a third person and then themselves in an apparent suicide pact, authorities said.

I red somewhere that they were telling everyone to leave the store. It just seems odd, amongst all this other oddness.

-----just in case that was needed.

It honestly does bother me, though, that there are people out there that continue to blame "violent media" for so many things, not just RWNJ homicidal maniacs, but so much else as well. And sadly, even some on the left(usually the far left) have fallen for the B.S.; you've got radical feminists blaming "violent media" for not just sexism and misogyny, but just about literally everything else, too, just as those on the far right (even more wrongly!) blame gay marriage, promiscuity, "emasculation", climate change acceptance, etc., hell, just liberal causes in general, for school shootings, earthquakes, tornadoes, teen pregnancy, you fucking name it!

Well, guess what? People in countries like Switzerland, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, etc.....they play many of the same games we do. They watch some of the same movies. And listen to a lot of the same music. But none of these countries have the problems that we do. And blaming media for things will not solve *anything*, regardless of whether it comes from a far right-wing Teabagger who hates Obama's guts and worships David Duke, Bob Whitaker, or Cliven Bundy, or a far-left radical feminist who believes that all white people are at fault for racism or that all men are potential rapists, etc.

It's frankly time for both sides to put aside this nonsense. To be truthful, we on the left, overall, are indeed usually much more informed than the right on these issues. But sometimes, some of us aren't. And it's up to us to push ourselves away from blaming media, and blaming the REAL causes of stuff like this.

The shooters left their Tea Party calling cards by draping "Don't Tread On Me" flags over their public servant victims.

We all know how much Tea Partiers care for public servants.

I suspect they were regular, loyal listeners of Hannity. Hannity may of inadvertently been an inspiration voice....

If militia members had been detained as they left the Bundy ranch, could this mass shooting have been avoided? Are the feds or local law enforcement doing anything about the out-of-state thugs who pointed their weapons at BLM officers who were acting in accordance to their duty? If not, why not?

I don't have to know the details of what's going on behind the scenes with the Bunkerville fiasco. I would just like to know that something IS being done.

I live in Las Vegas. The intersection of Nellis and Stewart is on my route to Sunrise Library (they have the best videos there - like all 3 seasons of Jonathan Creek and box sets of Blackadder).

There is no way, absolutely no way to justify these cowards assanation of these two Police Officers' and what the fuck is it going to take before our Congress gets off their asses and passes a Comprehensive Gun Control Bill, starting with reinstating the assault weapons ban.

Just how fucking stupid does he think we are?

Two Bundy groupies screaming "This is revolution!" and shooting a couple of cops eating their lunch is as clear as it ever can be.

The danger is from the far right, people, although rich men are more afraid of the left because it might tax them. They don't care if the far right is murdering people. Rich men talk openly of culling the herd.
